Knowsley Safari opens applications for a dream job in its conservation team

Do you love wildlife and the natural environment, maybe you have dreamt about working on a safari? If so then Knowsley Safari may have the perfect job opportunity for you.

The role of Knowsley Safari’s Research and Conservation Manager involves UK and international field work, often to remote locations, working with the Safari animal team and vets, as well as collaboration with universities, non-governmental organisations and other institutions to champion the protection, research and conservation of all wildlife species for the benefit of future generations.

This includes the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria’s breeding programme, which recently resulted in the birth of a rare baby white rhino, as well as signing a five-year agreement with The Wild Camel Protection Foundation to help conserve this amazing species, working on the ground in the Gobi Desert, as well as supporting native bat projects and small mammal monitoring, closer to home.

On a full-time, permanent contract, the top-placed applicant will have ‘vision, energy and enthusiasm’. In return, they’ll receive 33 days’ holiday a year – increasing with length of service – investment in career development, private healthcare and a generous pension scheme.

Safari Director, Kirsten Warren said:

“Our award-winning conservation team develops partnerships and highlights to over 600,00 Safari visitors each year – and hundreds of schools that take part in our education programmes – the importance of our work in this area.

“We’re passionate about highlighting the issues surrounding the long-term survival of vulnerable species by raising awareness within local and global communities, which is why our search for a Research and Conservation Manager to help lead this critical field of our work is so important.”

To find out more information and apply for the role, visit the Knowsley Safari website. But be quick to apply, the closing date for applications is midnight on 2nd January and interviews will take place after 6th January.
