Kym Marsh and Lisa Faulkner bring thriller Single White Female to Liverpool Playhouse

A brand new stage adaptation of cult 90s thriller Single White Female is heading to Liverpool Playhouse, with Kym Marsh and Lisa Faulkner leading the cast.

The world premiere production will run from Tuesday 28 April to Saturday 2 May, bringing a fresh, modern take on the iconic film to the stage.

Best known for her roles in Coronation Street and as a singer, Kym Marsh stars as Hedy, alongside TV presenter, actor and author Lisa Faulkner as Allie, who returns to the stage for the first time in more than two decades.

The new adaptation, written by author and broadcaster Rebecca Reid, reimagines the original 1992 story for the age of social media, exploring themes of ambition, obsession and loneliness in an increasingly isolated world.

Kym Marsh said she’s excited to be part of the production, adding: “I remember being totally gripped by the movie when I first saw it in the cinema and could never have imagined I’d be starring in its life on stage. Get ready to be thrilled, shocked and entertained and watch out for those stiletto heels.”

Lisa Faulkner added: “I think people would love this as a night out. I can see mums going with their daughters and groups of friends coming together and having a great time.”

The story follows recently divorced mum Allie, who is juggling single parenthood with launching a tech start-up. When she advertises for a lodger, Hedy seems like the perfect solution. But as their lives become increasingly intertwined, things begin to take a darker turn.

Joining Marsh and Faulkner on stage are Andro as Graham, Jonny McGarrity as Sam and Amy Snudden as Bella, with a full supporting cast and understudies.

The production is directed by Gordon Greenberg, whose previous work includes Guys & Dolls in the West End, with set and costume design by Morgan Large and sound by Max Pappenheim. It comes from the producer behind the stage hit The Girl on the Train.

Single White Female arrives at Liverpool Playhouse from 28 April to 2 May, with tickets available via the Everyman and Playhouse website.
