LEAF announces live shows, markets and more for the Summer

LEAF has announced some brand-new live dates, quizzes, talks and markets returning to its three venues over the coming weeks.

Looking ahead to beyond July 19th when the final stage of the roadmap takes place is an important moment for the long-running independent tearooms and restaurants, from the original Bold Street HQ to Smithdown Road and now over in West Kirby.

LEAF has been welcoming back customers first al fresco and now indoors too, preparing to explore music, events and collaborations once more. And there are some very exciting plans coming up.

Thursday 22nd July sees Martin Stephenson making his debut at LEAF Bold Street. He is an outstanding singer and songwriter whose career stretches back over thirty years of critical acclaim and relentless touring.

His work spans The Daintees to later retreating to the Scottish Highlands where several solo albums followed. In 2008, The Daintees reconvened to record Western Eagle and further illuminating albums through to 2019’s Chi Chi and the Jaguar.

On Tuesday 27th July Violette Societa present their unique take on music, poetry, visuals, with country harmony vocal pop from The Pelican Band, Kathy Halter’s bittersweet melodies of hope and heartache, Michael Pederson and Bye Louis all performing.

Friday 13th August is The Orielles La Vita Olistica film screening. Local promoter EVOL presents the Liverpool premiere of the new short film La Vita Olistica by The Orielles, ahead of their show at Festevol the following day.

There is also an interview and Q&A with the band and host John Robb (The Membranes/Louder Than War).

Over on Smithdown Road, LEAF’s famous quiz is back every Thursday. It’s a general knowledge extravaganza for the best brains out there, and only £2 per person to play and there are some great prizes for the winners.

And speaking of quizzes, over at West Kirby every Tuesday there is the big family quiz on the coast.

Expect all of the classic rounds and a challenging difficulty level for the more cerebrally suited – there are some great prizes on offer after all. But bear in mind a few questions are thrown in that may prove trickier for the adults among us, so it really is all to play for.

Taking place on the last Sunday of July and August in West Kirby is the Craft Market, showcasing some of the peninsula’s finest artisanal wares. Sunday 25th July and Sunday 29th August are dates to get in the diary.
