Light up your street for Liverpool’s Marie Curie Hospice this Christmas

End of life charity Marie Curie has launched a local Christmas appeal to support their Liverpool Hospice in Woolton.

The appeal is encouraging local residents to turn their streets into a festive Christmas wonderland by taking part in the charity’s ‘Light Up Your Street’ and ‘Dec Your Door’ fundraising campaign during December.

Community Fundraiser Ruth Todd said:

“This Christmas we need your help – Marie Curie’s income has been devastated by the pandemic, many of our fundraising activities have been cancelled, yet our services are in more demand than ever.

Every year our Liverpool Hospice and Community Nursing Service provides specialist end of life care and support for over 1,000 local people and their families and we need your help to ensure that we can continue to do so.

“Our target is to raise ÂŁ20,000 here in Liverpool to pay for hospice care over Christmas and we’re asking the local community to join with us to celebrate this festive season and fundraise at the same time by taking part in our ‘Light Up Your Street’ and ‘Dec Your Door’ campaigns.

“Help us care this Christmas, please coordinate with your neighbours, pick a date to turn your neighbourhood into a winter wonderland by lighting up your street, decorating your doors and donating to Marie Curie at the same time via our JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/campaign/mariecurieliverpoolchristmas.

Share your pictures with us on social media  #lightupyourstreet #decyourdoor #mariecurieliverpool #mariecuriechristmas.

“Our wonderful supporter, fundraiser and On Your Doorstep Photographer Kenny Glover has kindly agreed to photograph our top five decorated doors – and our hospice nurses will select the outright winning decorated door, whose owners will receive a special festive family Christmas hamper”

Closing date for entries is 13th December.  Register to fundraise by emailing Merseyside.fund@mariecurie.org.uk or call Marie Curie’s Ruth Todd on 07515 134 793.

Please make sure to follow Government guidance on social distancing when organising any fundraising events.  £5 donations can also be made by texting XMAS to 70456 (texts cost £5 plus your network rate).
