Lime Street Central is giving away free England shirts to support the Women’s World Cup
1 year ago
As the Women’s World Cup gets underway, pub goers can get their hands on a brand new 2023 women’s England home shirt in a selection of Greene King venues, including Lime Street Central.
Taking place on Friday 28th July, the first fans who purchase a breakfast in pub during the England vs Denmark game will receive* a free shirt worth £80.
Lime Street Central serves up delicious breakfast, brunch, lunch and tea, seven days a week with and amazing range of cocktails, beers and wines too.
National research from the leading pub company and brewer has also revealed that while 58% of Brits have started following a women’s sports team since the 2022 Lionesses victory, a third have never been to the pub to watch a women’s football game.
Greene King is offering those who have found a new passion for the women’s game to visit selected pubs, which will open specially for the early morning games down under where guests can enjoy breakfast and cheer on the national team.
According to research, two thirds still feel there is a lack of awareness and support for women’s sports teams compared to male teams.
However, 73% think that the Lionesses victory last year has helped improve awareness and support for women’s sport, with many fans hoping that the team can clinch a victory again this year.
Earlier this year Greene King announced its continued commitment to ensuring women’s sport gets the airtime it deserves, pledging to show all the games in the Women’s Super League for the 2023 season across many of its city centre pubs.
Andrew Gallagher, Marketing Director for Greene King Pubs, said:
“Our pubs have such an important role to play in major football tournaments; they provide a space for fans to show their support and come together as a community.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re wearing England colours from head to toe, or if you’re just looking to back the Lionesses with your friends while you watch the match – our pubs are inclusive spaces for everyone during the upcoming tournament.”
