Liverpool bakery creates gourmet cookies to rival US phenomenon Crumbl
3 weeks ago
An independent Liverpool bakery and vintage shop has created a new range of gourmet cookies to rival US phenomenon Crumbl.
Alongside its vintage fashion, vinyl and gifts, Freida Mo’s on Lark Lane has a dedicated following for its cakes, homemade daily by owner and keen baker Sally Ayres.
Now, in addition to the cake selection, Sally has launched a gourmet cookie range with a variety of super-indulgent flavours.
And, just a week after they hit the counter, they’re already getting rave reviews from cookie fans comparing them to the massive American brand.
Crumbl has become a global sensation on Tik Tok and Instagram, with devotees posting about how much they love the soft-baked cookies which come in batches including banoffee pie, French toast, churro, and salted caramel cheesecake.
They’re based in the US, Canada and soon to be Australia and describe themselves as “the best cookies in the world” – but now Liverpool has its own version far closer to home.
Ashley Bromilow, BDM at Freida Mo’s, says:
“Sally bakes all our cakes herself, and has done since we opened over six years ago. Freida Mo’s was one of the first businesses on Lark Lane to offer home-baked cakes.
“She’s always been an allergen specialist baker so we offer vegan, gluten free and nut-free cakes because Sally believes everyone deserves to have cake!
“With so much competition on Lark Lane we wanted to do something a bit different and Sally’s very multi-talented when it comes to baking.
“A lot of people had been asking for her cookies so she’s perfected the recipe and we’ve opened a gourmet cookie bakery in the shop.
“They’re freshly baked each day, we have our own kitchen here so the Freidettes, Freida Mo’s staff, can be baking cookies all day, every day, in all different flavours, and Sally has taught everyone how to decorate each one for the perfect finish.”
Freida’s Mo’s cookies come in all kinds of decadent flavours like Cherry Garcia, white chocolate and raspberry, ginger and apple crumble, cinnamon bun, smores, Nutella stuffed, spiced brownie and the signature triple choc chip.
And, adds Ashley:
“ever since we launched a week ago they’ve been flying out and we’ve had lots of fabulous reviews.
“We’ve been told by people who’ve been to America and tried them that we are Liverpool’s version of the famous Crumbl Cookies – if not better!”
The new gourmet cookies aren’t just a hit in their own right, they’re going to be linked a new concept, ‘The Rascals of Freida Mo’s’, which will be launching ahead of Halloween.
The shop will be the focus of a mystical world for all ages, especially kids, to discover and get involved with, and a new limited edition Rascal cookie will be launched each month.
