Liverpool City Region at Christmas – What’s on in Sefton?

Liverpool is sparkling under thousands of fairy lights as the festive celebrations officially get under way.
The city centre is awash with Christmas spirit with trees, lights and markets already getting us in the mood for the big day.
But what about the rest of the city region?
Here is our guide to the best family friendly pre-Christmas celebrations in Sefton and West Lancashire.
You can see trees and lights being lit, enjoy seasonal food and drinks, enjoy choirs performing carols and Christmas hits, and maybe even meet Santa.
Bootle
Bootle Together, Bootle Strand, Saturday 19th November 1pm-6pm
With family entertainment, a funfair at Canalside, markets and Father Christmas at Stanley Road, this afternoon event hosted by the fabulous Leanne Campbell, features the lights switch on at 5pm.
Crosby
Waterloo Christmas, Thursday 24th November, 11am-5pm
A Waterloo Christmas at the bus interchange will feature market stalls, entertainment and the lights switch on at 4.45pm.
Simply Vibrant Christmas Market, Love 23, Warren Road, Crosby, 18th December, 10am-3pm
Browse stalls from more than 30 local makers, enjoy coffee, cake, and see Father Christmas.
Formby
Formby village Christmas lights, 24th November, 4pm-7.30pm
The Christmas lights will be switched on and there will be fairground rides, entertainment on the main stage and a visit from Father Christmas.
Birkdale
Christmas Fayre, 27th November, 10am-6pm
The Christmas Fayre will feature fairground rides, Christmas stalls, food and drink, live music, Father Christmas, and the lights switch on.
Southport
Southport, Festive Fun Day, 19th November, 1pm-5pm
Head to the Lord Street Bandstand and Town Hall Gardens for a day of entertainment hosted by Claire Simmo and Sandgrounder Radio. Visitors will be able to take in the lights along Lord Street and the wonderful Southport Christmas Tree.
Events at the Bandstand are from 1.30-3.30pm, including Baby Ballet, and Town Hall Gardens from 4-5pm where you can enjoy traditional carols and classic festive music.

Churchtown Village Christmas Lights Switch On, 27th November, 2pm-8pm
Fun for all the family with a grotto, elf hunt, food and drink stalls, live singers and more before the big light switch on.
Moonlight Drive, Victoria Park, 9th-18th December
Enjoy drive-in movies including Elf, Frozen, Home Alone and Love Actually in this special drive-in movies event. See the website for the full line up and tickets.
Maghull
Maghull Christmas Fayre, 30th November, 2pm-6,30pm
Head to the Town Hall for stalls from local business, hot drinks and Christmas food, before carol singing and the tree lighting at 6.30pm.
West Lancashire
Ormskirk, 20th November, 12 noon-6pm
Ormskirk’s will dazzle with music, singing, carols and readings as well as market stalls on Moor Street serving food and drinks. Father Christmas will be at The Chapel and the lights will be switched on at 6pm.
