Liverpool e-bike company Dam Bikes is seeing a surge in demand over lockdown
4 years ago
A Liverpool-based e-bike company is reporting a surge in sales since the start of the third national Covid-19 lockdown.
DAM Bikes, the electric bikes company based in the Baltic Triangle, say they have been inundated with orders from people looking for alternative ways to travel and others who are taking up cycling for the very first time.
DAM Bikes, which are designed in Liverpool, launched last year with the support of local sports stars including boxer Tony Bellew, football star Jamie Carragher, and Sky Sports presenter Natasha Jonas.
The bikes offer all the advantages of a regular bike with the addition of an electric motor and battery. E-bikes have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their appeal to people of all cycling abilities.
The Liverpool company is aiming to become a global leader in the e-bike industry with a promise to beat competitors on quality and price, high-spec designs and cutting-edge technology.
Roy Heatherington of DAM Bikes said:
“We’ve all heard about the demand for toilet rolls and hand sanitisers during the pandemic but there’s been been a massive demand in bikes across the country. The virus is certainly changing lifestyles as people take up cycling for the very first time.
Watch as business leader Frank McKenna gives us his thoughts on Liverpool’s Covid recovery and the need for more government support.

Yes, people have their fitness goals but we’re hearing from others, such as key workers, who are looking at alternative ways to travel to work. E-bikes offer riders the best of both worlds while they provide all the freedom and advantages of a regular bike, you can easily switch to electric mode for an extra boost when needed.
“They have obvious health benefits and are around 30% faster than an average bike and that’s why I think we’re seeing this demand during this new lockdown as people are desperate for new ways to travel and experiment with alternative ways to get outside. We’ve had a surge in demand since the new lockdown was introduced.”
We are a new company but so much effort is going into the design and manufacturing of DAM Bikes and people seem to be impressed with our kit.
The support we’ve had from celebrities like Jamie Carragher, Tony Bellew and Natahsa Jonas has also really helped raise awareness too.
We’re expecting to get even busier over the next few weeks as the lockdown continues.”
