Liverpool feels UK earthquake tremors right across the region

Did you feel the earth move across Merseyside this afternoon?

People from across the region reported their houses shaking this afternoon as tremors from a 4.4 magnitude earthquake, 8 miles from the centre of Swansea, were felt here in the North West. The activity has since been confirmed by the British Geological Survey which states that Britain experiences a similar sized earthquake every 2-3 years.

From Smithdown to Speke, Southport to Port Sunlight, Scousers reported furniture moving, windows rattling on Saturday 17th February 2018 around 2:30pm. At the time of going to press, there are no reports of anyone being injured or significant damage here in Liverpool.

It’s been 25 years since Liverpool last felt a noticeable earthquake, when in 2008 our Jay and Pete Price were live on air, 460ft up at the top of the Radio City Tour. Pete was quoted as saying he felt his chair shake and he almost swore on air. We reckon this episode may have contributed to our Jay being scared of heights too.
