Liverpool is set to launch its very own deep-South Dive bar

Preparations are almost finished for this new deep-South dive inspired venue to launch itself onto the Liverpool nighttime and music scene.

After such a positive response to its pre-opening publicity during the start of 2023, the team behind the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, based in the busy and popular Seel Street area of Liverpool city centre, are pleased to announce their full opening launch night will take place on Friday 24th February from 7pm onwards, where welcomed guests will enjoy a complimentary cocktail, the brand’s famous fresh pizzas on the house, and live music that would make Johnny Cash, the inspiration behind the bar, proud.

After nearly two decades of success, at the original Mean-Eyed Cat Bar in Leeds, Phil Harrison and his team are ready to bring something different to Liverpool city centre. The Mean-Eyed Cat Bar Liverpool will be the perfect setting for midweek drinks, raucous weekends and generally having a blast. The ‘come in and sin’ vibe is all about a diverse crowd who love to party, with a dose of Southern charm.

The Friday 24th February launch party will be open to the public from 7pm and guests will receive a premium drink token from the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar’s legendary menu, as well as an offer for a complimentary drink on a return visit. To accompany this generous selection, partygoers will also be able to sample the Bar’s tasty pizzas, which are made in-house.

As music is such a part of the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar’s vibe, there will be live music from the Cash Cows, who will be performing three 40-minute sets. To record great memories of the evening, there will be a special photo booth for guests to take their own selfies, and the launch itself will carry on until 4 am, meaning a really great time is ensured for all.

Spokesperson for Mean-Eyed Cat Bar Phil Harrison adds:

‘All of the team are readying themself for our exciting launch in Liverpool – we can’t think of a better time to get involved in this wonderful city’s musical and bar nightlife. Our first event will give people a first look at what the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar is all about.

We have made sure every detail is perfect for the night itself, and our signature Mean-Eyed Cat Bar features are set to impress, including our original artwork from local artists, which reflects our ethos of independence and creativity. The Johnny Cash theme is a distinct feature throughout, providing the perfect backdrop for our live music.

We have the capacity for 300 guests, and we really look forward to giving them a Mean-Eyed Cat Bar welcome. There will be a special reveal on the night itself, and guests will also be able to see private booking areas available, should they wish to book their own party in the future.

Both myself and the family have huge ties to the city of Liverpool, and so it was really important to us to establish our second venue here. As long as you enjoy great music and a first-rate drinks menu, then this will be the perfect place to meet, relax and party.

We are also pleased that we have had such a positive response to our recruitment drive – we have a real family feel to our team, and we know it is a vital time to be adding employment opportunities to the local economy.

Liverpool is obviously a really unique place when it comes to culture, and we are proud that the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar will bring its own flavour to the mix. We want to offer a really laid-back approach, whilst behind-the-scenes we are all about providing a professional yet approachable service.

We also anticipate that our launch guests will return to enjoy the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar many times over, and invite everyone to join us from 7pm on our launch evening – it’s going to be busy so we suggest an early arrival to secure your entrance.’

The Mean Eyed Cat Bar is located at 71a Seel Street, Liverpool L1 4AZ.
