Christmas officially arrives in Liverpool this week, as the city kicks off the festive season with a huge street party.
Visitors from across the region and beyond are invited to ONE Big Christmas Street Party on Friday 15 November from 4-8pm, featuring special performances from the city region’s panto stars, including home-grown talents such as actress Claire Sweeney; comedienne Crissy Rock; and Radio City favourite Leanne Campbell.
The Guide Liverpool’s Jay Hynd and Gemma will be hosting the panto performance stage on South John Street from 4pm.
The stars will give party-goers a glimpse of what to expect when they take to the stage at theatres across Liverpool and Wirral this panto season, offering an exclusive first look before the curtains go up.
ONE Big Christmas Street Party will also include live performances from Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) artists and a string of local choirs, including Liverpool Show Choir, Sing Me Merseyside, Pop Vox Choir and Kaboodle, while a group of ‘naughty elves’ will be making their return this year to entertain visitors.
Donna Howitt, Marketing Director at Liverpool ONE, said: “Liverpool is in the top three UK cities to visit and there’s no better time to enjoy it than at Christmas. This festive season in Liverpool is truly shaping up to be one to remember – we have an absolutely packed calendar of events and what better way to kick it all off than with a street party! We’re delighted to bring together the region’s theatre stars, performers and artists to offer families an evening they won’t forget, and it’s completely free.”
“Nothing says Christmas quite like a family panto, so we’re thrilled to have some of our biggest stars on board to entertain our guests, giving them a taste of what’s to come. We’re extremely lucky to have a city that’s overflowing with talent and we can’t wait to welcome them to help us celebrate.”
Among the events planned this Christmas at Liverpool ONE is the Polar Adventure, a magical land train experience on Chavasse Park where passengers can enjoy a hot chocolate, entertainment inside festive yurts and Christmas arts and crafts.
Much-loved favourites such as Bar Hutte – complete with festive ‘carol-oke’ – will be making its return underneath the iconic Christmas tree on Paradise Street, offering live music and a tempting menu of festive cocktails.
Donna added: “The city’s appeal has gone from strength to strength and, this year, we’re incredibly excited to be launching the Polar Adventure, which promises to be the perfect addition to any festive family day out in Liverpool.”
