While music fans have been discussing so many previous enjoyable August Bank Holidays spent in Mathew Street, marking The Beatles and their live music legacy, many of its local independent venues have joined forces to bring back the good times to the Cavern Quarter this August bank holiday weekend in Liverpool city centre.

The Mathew Street Tribute Festival will take place on the weekend of Friday 23 – Monday 26 August 2024, centred around Cavern Walks, which will have a main stage erected inside and numerous acts lined up.to play over the weekend.

The team behind the award winning local independent Pub Invest Group decided it was time to revive the vibe with dedicated celebrations, which will centre around Cavern Walks, right in the heart of Mathew Street itself.

Cavern Walks is soon to play host to Motto by Hilton brand hotel, with the upper floors being dedicated to accommodation. The ground floor will play host to its own live music and pop-up bars as part of this new Mathew Street-themed event for 2024.

This August Bank Holiday party, the theme will really be around live music paying homage to the area’s distinct musical heritage, from a city that really knows how to kick up its heels.

Jimmy Boland, from the Rubber Soul complex, said:

“We really like to keep our ears to the ground, and both our team, neighbours and clients have told us that they really miss the Mathew Street  based celebrations held across the August Bank Holiday at the end of the summer. Everyone in the city who used to come into the area has such fond memories of great times. While it is still a busy operating time for us, we know that a dedicated Beatles tribute celebration has been much-missed.

“As one of several local independents based in and around the Mathew Street area, we think we are well placed to hold our own live music tribute celebrations at the same time of year, which means our guests can head to the city’s most iconic music zone for a whole host of live music, which will of course be free at point of entry, which we know is really important right now in these hard economic times.

“The Cavern Quarter attracts visitors from the city region, around the UK and all over the world. It is the home of The Beatles and so we want to enjoy that at a time which is synonymous in people’s minds with celebrating that legacy.

“This weekend will not be short of fantastic bands to listen to, as well as the usual emphasis on family friendly service, brilliant value drinks, and an opportunity to enjoy the end of the summer season in style.

“We really want to help revive the memories of so many music fans who have spent so many previous summers on Mathew Street enjoying the true birthplace of The Beatles, and our own dedicated celebrations including all-important live music, will give partygoers a chance to make new memories at this really meaningful spot.

“As a group which puts on live music every week of the year, we also know that this event will give established and new up and coming bands and music artists a real platform to be seen and heard, too.

“We offer guests great value all year round, and know they will really appreciate our free-to-enter events, which will pay huge tribute to everything the region holds dear, especially musical heritage and the chance to party in the way only Liverpool can.

“We also look forward to revealing more detailed plans and schedules as this August Bank Holiday approaches – watch this space!”
