Liverpool’s garden waste collection service is to resume from Monday 22 March and you can find all the dates you need below.
The date is later than usual because of the Covid pandemic which has resulted in a rise in the amount of domestic waste being collected as people are spending more time at home, and staff absence due to sickness and self-isolation.
There has been a nine per cent increase in domestic waste and a 23 per cent increase in recycling during the pandemic, which has meant that Liverpool Street Scene Services have had to focus on maintaining purple and blue bin collections.
Seasonal staff are now being recruited and additional waste collection vehicles have been secured to deliver the green bin service.
Residents are asked to put their green bin out on their normal day from Monday 22 March.
If people have ordered a replacement garden waste wheelie bin, it will be delivered in the next few weeks.
WASTE FIGURES (2020 annual figures compared to 2019)
“We would like to thank residents for their patience and understanding in relation to the green bin collection service.
“We have rightly been focusing our efforts on making sure we were able to deal with the increased amounts of domestic and recycling as a result of people being at home during lockdown.
“We are now in a position to resume the green collections in time for the end of winter, when we know people will start work in their gardens such as cutting the grass and pruning bushes and hedges.”
