Merseyside Catering Company ‘Fighting Back’ Against Coronavirus With Pop-Ups, Pre-Orders and Private Dining Offering…

Award winning event caterers Cheeky Chilli have transformed their business model in an attempt to ride out the devastation caused to the events industry by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Wirral based catering specialists have devised a whole new range of Covid safe dining experiences and Director Kim Maher said the team are all focussed on ‘riding the storm’ and offering clients a taste of Cheeky Chilli, Covid style!

With A Little Help From Their Friends

With over one hundred major events and weddings either cancelled or re-scheduled to next year, the team have focussed their energy on looking at new, innovative ways of keeping busy and doing what they love.

One surprise development came when local restauranteur Ben Russell, who owns the popular American style restaurant Salty’s in Parkgate, offered the team his restaurant free of charge for the night. The first Cheeky Chilli pop-up restaurant will now be taking place at Salty’s on Thursday 15th October and Kim said the support from the local community has been overwhelming.

‘We were absolutely bowled over when Ben offered us the space and when we advertised it tentatively on social media it sold out in a couple of hours which was just amazing. Our Chef Director Phil Williams and his team have devised a mega five course Asian fusion menu and we can’t wait to get back to doing what we love.’

Ironically the pop-up with see Phil return to his roots as he ran the hugely successful Marsh Cat restaurant on the same site for over ten years before setting up Cheeky Chilli back in 2011.

‘Ben has done an amazing thing for us’, commented Phil, ‘And I for one can’t wait to get back into that kitchen and wow the guests with our very special menu.’

And the team haven’t stopped there….

Their new Sunday Lunch delivery service has just started to gain momentum and have they have joined forces with local events company Make Events and their private party division; HM Events to devise a whole range of Covid safe Private Dining experiences and micro-party options for private individuals and commercial clients who are still looking to celebrate in the run up to Christmas and beyond.

The collaboration was formed when the latest government restrictions were placed for ‘Rule of 6’, the concept allows clients to have an at home bespoke dining experience like no other.

If all that wasn’t enough, the team have also been busy during lockdown transforming a vintage caravan into what will become The Cheeky Truck. Designed to offer their unique blend of funky street-food and hearty festive treats, the Cheeky Truck will be hitting the road soon so look out for it at an outdoor event near you!

‘It’s been a long hard summer,’ said Kim, ‘But we are super-excited about all of the opportunities that have presented themselves and we are determined to keep our Cheeky Chilli offering, fresh, fun and viable until we can get back to big events again next year.’
