New 70,000 sq ft Liverpool ONE M&S store officially opens

It’s time – after months of anticipation, Marks & Spencer has today, Tuesday 15 August, officially opened its amazing new store in the Liverpool ONE shopping centre.

The Liverpool ONE M&S store team gathered at the store entrance at 9am with Store Manager, Kirsty Williams, who was joined by guest of honour Percy Pig, to cut the ribbon and declare the store officially open.

Located in The Liverpool ONE shopping center, the new 70,000 sq ft store offers local shoppers a fresh market-style Foodhall, stylish and spacious new Clothing, Home & Beauty departments, and the first ever, new-look M&S Coffee Shop.

As well as creating over 70 new jobs, the new-look M&S Liverpool ONE store represents a significant investment in the city’s economy. It comes following the retailer’s recent announcement that it will invest c. £480 million in its store rotation programme, creating over 3,400 new jobs nationwide. The new M&S Liverpool ONE store is also one of the first of twenty new M&S stores that are due to open across the country this year.

Inside the brand-new 70,000 sq ft, the spacious new Clothing, Home & Beauty department offers shoppers plenty of style inspiration with the latest collections across womenswear, kidswear and menswear – with dedicated, neon-lit areas to spotlight M&S customer favourites including Per Una, Autograph and Goodmove. And shopping with M&S will be easier than ever with our team of colleagues on hand to offer support and styling advice, and new features like the option to skip the queues altogether and pay straight away in our store fitting rooms.

Other highlights include a bigger-than-ever M&S Footwear offer with a spacious try-on area, making it easy to find the right fit and style, and a transformed M&S Beauty department showcasing customer favourites, including the ever-popular Apothecary collection and the new M&S Fresh Elements skincare range.

The new store is also home to the very first, new-look M&S Coffee Shop. The exciting new Hospitality concept is a great pre or post-shop pit stop, offering a transformed menu with a selection of freshly made sandwiches, freshly baked pastries, chilled drinks – including the iconic Colin the Caterpillar™ & Percy Pig™ Slushees – and a great selection of delicious cakes and treats. The menu is served ready to go so customers can decide to eat on the move, take back to the office, or sit down in the new dining area.

And as you’d expect, there are specially trained M&S Master Baristas on hand to work their magic using Fairtrade tea & coffee and RSPCA Assured milk to create the best tasting hot drinks – whether it’s a silky cappuccino, a velvety-smooth flat white or our UK exclusive and now world-famous bold-not-bitter Magic Coffee®. 

Other menu highlights include a range of delicious sandwiches made fresh in store daily with M&S Collection Sourdough Brioche and Baguettes, brand-new Build Your Own Breakfast Rolls – which comes in not one, not two but 11 food combinations – along with the Egg and Chip Sticks Brioche Roll and a variety of oven baked, handcrafted pastry slices including a tempting Chicken, Leek & Bacon Slice and customer favourites, the M&S Pork Sausage Roll and Plant Kitchen No Pork Sausage Roll. 

And inside the brand-new M&S Foodhall, customers will find a new fresh-market feel, with displays brimming with great quality, trusted value produce from M&S Select Farms, and a show-stopping bakery offering fresh daily-baked bread and pastries, including M&S Collection Sourdough – made through a traditional 30-hour process – and the exclusive M&S Yumnuts™. Other Foodhall highlights include a sensational selection of cheeses and a dedicated M&S Wine Shop.

And with a huge new range of M&S Remarksable products – including Super Soft sliced bread, RSCPA Assured fresh milk, and beef mince from trusted M&S Select Farmers – the new store will deliver trusted value for local customers.  

The team have been counting down the days to opening, and this morning over 300 local customers started queuing from 6:30am to get the first look inside the store. And to surprise those dedicated customers, Percy Pig was on-hand to welcome shoppers to the new store as the team handed out 200 golden tickets to the first customers through the door. Every golden ticket holder was guaranteed a win – whether it’s a free bag of Percy Pigs or freshly baked cookies from the new M&S bakery, and to mark the occasion one lucky customer won a £200 M&S voucher!

Today’s opening was made even more exciting, with the attendance of local radio station, Liverpool Live, who set up a ‘radio studio’ in store and spoke to colleagues and customers alike all about the newest store on the block!

With an amazing new, fresh market feel Foodhall and a Clothing & Home department which is the perfect place to shop your M&S favourites, we really do have the best of M&S here for everyone to enjoy!”

With a generous car park on site, the new M&S Liverpool ONE store is ideal for bigger basket family shopping. The store is located at Liverpool ONE Shopping Centre, Lord Street, Liverpool, L2 1TA, UK and will be open Monday – Friday 9am– 8pm, Saturday 9am – 7pm and on Sunday, 11am – 5pm.
