Liverpool’s bar scene has had a stylish new addition, as Sister Ray opened its doors this month, with the intention of blending the European café culture with the chic and cool vibes of New York’s bar scene.

By day, Sister Ray will serve as a welcoming hangout spot for all. Whether you’re looking to sip on coffee, get some work done, or simply while away the hours, this is the place to be.

As the sun sets, Sister Ray will cater for after-work drinks, cocktails with friends, date nights, or just a casual hangout with mates.

Chris Edwards, founder, said:

“The bar takes its name from a Velvet Underground track I love that starts with a pretty reliable rock ‘n’ roll groove that descends into a debauched soundscape via riffs of, funk, disco, post punk, jazz and grunge. It’s much how I see the bar evolving from day to night, a  quiet reliable workspace by day, that gets a little looser as the night creeps in.”

Guests can walk up to the bar and grab a cold beer or settle into a cozy booth and indulge in beautifully prepared cocktails made using top-notch spirits and ingredients. The wine menu showcases small producers from around the globe, while the cocktail menu boasts a mix of timeless classics and inventive concoctions.

Chris Edwards, known for Filter and Fox, along with Lewis Jenkins and Carey Hanlon, brings a wealth of experience from top-notch establishments worldwide.

Chris added:

“Investing in the team for Sister Ray was a priority for me, with this talent concentrated on one venue we can be sure to render the most creative, meticulously crafted and best tasting drinks in the city.”

But it’s not just about the drinks at Sister Ray; it’s also about the music. Curated by Chris and various local DJs and musicians, the soundtrack covers everything from disco to funk, rock & roll, jazz, and calypso. Guests are encouraged to request their favourite tunes, making for a lively and inclusive atmosphere.

Above all, Sister Ray aims to be an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome. Whether you’re in the mood for great cocktails, good Guinness, or just some good company, Sister Ray invites you to come as you are and enjoy whatever kind of night you desire.
