New Liverpool restaurant ‘Six By Nico’ to launch with Chippie Tea
4 years ago
Six by Nico, brainchild of renowned Scottish-Italian chef Nico Simeone, has today announced the first menu theme available in the Liverpool restaurant when it opens this November is ‘The Chippie’.
Foodies will be treated to a completely new six course menu every six weeks, at the same location on North John Street with the first concept themed around the local chip shop.
‘The Chippie’ will kick-start the series of evolving concepts, providing a nostalgic nod to the traditional fish and chip shop, and will showcase the flavours for which the UK is famed for worldwide.
A nostalgic nod to the past, ‘The Chippie’ six dishes are based on the classics found in a traditional British ‘Fish & Chip’ shop, each one re-imagined and re-created with a contemporary twist. The new menu will include the most popular chippie dishes, with items including chips and cheese, steak pie, fish supper and the classic deep fried mars bar.
Chef Nico Simeone said: “Most people are familiar with the tastes and scents of their local chip shop and we wanted to take the idea of the everyday chippie menu and re-invent it to create a playful food experience that guests would recognise and be amazed by. The local ‘chippie tea’ is a popular dish for Liverpudlians and we can’t wait to serve our quirky take on this British classic”.
‘The Chippie’ menu includes
CHIPS & CHEESE – Parmesan Espuma / Curry Oil / Salt and Vinegar Potato Croquette; SCAMP – Monkfish Cheeks / Pea Emulsion / Herb Butter Sauce / Gribiche; STEAK PIE – Beef Shin / Burnt Onion Ketchup / Mushroom Duxelle / Red Wine; FISH SUPPER – Cod / Confit Fennel / Samphire / Beer Pickled Mussels / Brandade; SMOKED SAUSAGE – Pork Belly / Salt Baked Celeriac / Caramelised Apple / Black Pudding; & DEEP FRIED MARS BAR – Caramelia Chocolate Mousse / Orange Sorbet / Cocoa Nib
Diners can book a table now for ‘The Chippie’, which runs from Tuesday 12th November – Sunday 22nd December 2019. Open from midday, Tuesday through Sunday, each six-course menu will be available from noon to night.
The six-course menu will be priced at £29 per person and diners will have the option to enjoy an expertly selected wine pairing for an additional £26.
Nico added: “We couldn’t be more delighted about bringing a completely new offering and dining experience to the people of Liverpool. By challenging ourselves to do this every six-weeks we feel we have created the perfect recipe for an exciting epicurean adventure for not just our diners, but our Six by Nico team too.”
‘Six by Nico’ in Liverpool will be the sixth addition to Nico’s growing restaurant portfolio, with award winning venues including ‘111 by Nico’ and ‘Six by Nico’ already well embedded in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast and Manchester restaurant scenes.
The new North John Street restaurant occupying the former La Vina site will be the second site in England and will replicate the concept of his Six by Nico restaurants in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast and Manchester. It will be home to a series of carefully curated and constantly evolving menu concepts.
Every six weeks, Nico and his team will re-invent the dining experience – serving a brand new six-course tasting-menu. Each one themed upon a different place, memory or idea. Using food as a narrative, each menu will tell a different story, taking guests on a new and exciting journey each time they visit. Each new chapter will be kept a surprise and new menus will be published two-weeks prior to the next theme.
The concept was born in Glasgow in 2017 from a passion for experimenting with new ingredients and developing and creating unique dishes.
Six by Nico Liverpool will open its doors on Tuesday 12th November becoming the latest addition to Merseyside’s burgeoning food scene, creating 40 local jobs. From its creative menu concepts to outstanding food and service, the venue will aim to become an immediate hit with the people of Liverpool.
