New Marriott Tribute Portfolio Hotel, The Reach at Piccadilly, opens in Manchester
4 months ago
Situated in the city centre, just a 90-second walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station, The Reach at Piccadilly features a chic and captivating design, with 215 impressive guest rooms, eight suites, and a ground-floor restaurant & bar: Lock 84.
The Reach at Piccadilly lends its design influence to the city’s rich industrial heritage. Known as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, Manchester was once a thriving hub of textile production, earning it the nickname ‘Cottonopolis.’
Located on Ducie Street, The Reach at Piccadilly’s 11-storey building towers over the Rochdale Canal, which was once used to transport coal across the city. The hotel’s bespoke concept and decor draws much inspiration from its locale.
Guests can expect nautical, nostalgic interiors, with quality craftsmanship and greenery scattered throughout. The canalside location is also reflected in the use of activated charcoal toiletries in the bathrooms, as well as a twist on the traditional ‘fourpenny’ drink, which was historically used by workers to toast the end of the day.
The restaurant Lock 84, incorporates the city’s heritage in a variety of ways. Expect all-day dining, featuring speciality small plates and the best, sustainably sourced and seasonal ingredients from local suppliers. Whilst taking inspiration from all around the world, including the use of a Japanese style grill in the kitchen, the menu is primarily based around British dishes. From an a la carte breakfast menu to a tailored tasting menu, there is something for everyone to enjoy. This includes an excellent selection of wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Collaborating with local Manchester partners is a key part of The Reach at Piccadilly’s food & drink offering. From corporate bookers and tourist explorers to couples, families, and furry friends (dogs are welcome), guests can enjoy produce grown only a few miles away, drink a cup of coffee that has been roasted around the corner, and sip on locally brewed beer.
The Reach at Piccadilly forms part of Tribute Portfolio, a collection of characterful, independent hotels from Marriott Bonvoy, drawn together by their passion for captivating design and a drive to create vibrant social scenes for guests and locals alike. All Tribute Portfolio hotels have their own unique vibe.
Stephen Bench, Managing Director of Lighthouse Hotel Management (the management company behind the new hotel), said:
“We are delighted to launch this exciting addition to the portfolio. The Reach at Piccadilly prides itself on local authenticity and celebrating Manchester’s historical roots. Guests from around the world can certainly expect a warm, northern welcome.”
