No.9 Bar and Kitchen to host local marketplace this Summer after initial success
3 years ago
No.9 Bar and Kitchen, based on Cherry Lane in North Liverpool held a local marketplace on Sunday 22nd May in aid of local independents.
The event was such a huge success that it is going to be repeated again in the Summer months.
The marketplace had stall holders on the day including Little Miss Boutique, Enchanted Souls, An Event to Remember, Bohoo Beach Bum and Pare De Bijoux to name but a few and took place from 10am until 6pm. Live music was also supplied by Marcus Hughes.
The team at No.9 Bar & Kitchen, who picked up the “Start Up Business of the Year Award 2022” at the Liverpool Echo Regional Business Awards 2022 at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, are passionate about their local community and supporting local independent businesses.
All the independents in attendance are local to Anfield, Walton, Kirkdale and the surrounding areas.
Gemma Bresnahan, co-owner of No. 9 Bar and Kitchen, said:
“We are an independent that was set up just over 3 years ago. We pride ourselves on employing a local workforce and buying in our supplies locally, wherever possible. We have developed great relationships with local businesses, ranging from event planners to clothing stores. This has helped us to build up a real community feel, with each of us helping to push the other as well as supporting each other through tough business times. None more so than the last few years with the pandemic hitting us all.
“So we decided to set up a marketplace as the weather turned for the better and the take up, as well as attendance, was fantastic. It was a great way for our independent business friends to showcase what they are all about and we look forward to hosting the next one in the Summer months.
“Myself and my husband Allan have grown up in this community. We have deep roots within this area. Supporting these local businesses is very important to us and giving them a location to all come together to engage with potential customers and showcase their fantastic products.
“Our aim for these days is exposure for everyone involved. Creating links between each business for potential further working relationships. The date we planned just so happened to fall on the last game of the season, so we thought we would take the opportunity to have a good celebration.”
This hugely popular and energetic venue, which is well known for its breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus as well as entertainment, including supporting local artists through its ‘open mic’ nights, has proved itself to be a hit in the area since opening and the next stage of development with the business will see the No 9 Boutique open.
This will be located above the current site and will feature a number of serviced apartments coming later in the year.
No. 9 Bar and Kitchen is open 7 days a week from 9 am – 10.30 pm. Food is served from 9 am to 8 pm
