Flippin’ great! There’s just days to go until Pancake Day and who doesn’t love tucking into a fab and fluffy treat piled high with loads of scrumptious toppings.
There’s no ‘batter’ way of celebrating Shrove Tuesday on February 25 than with the perfect pancake but if you don’t fancy making your own, here’s a few ideas of where you can go to tuck in…
Not just for this special day, Bold Street Coffee whisks up a pretty fine pancake any day of the week up until 12 noon, so it’s a great bet for brunch. Renowned for its great coffee and fantastic food, Bold Street Coffee has always got pancakes on the menu with two tasty toppings, maple & bacon and wonderful wild berries but, for £6.75, it’s created a delicious Pancake Day special to tempt its guests – indulgent butterscotch pancakes with peanut brittle and banana.
OMG – this is just pancake heaven. The Club House Liverpool has brought it back by popular demand – yes, it’s its Pancake Hanging Kebab available not just on Pancake Tuesday – but on Pancake Monday and Wednesday (February 24 and 26) too! Just think … mini pancakes served on a kebab stand with a choice of two flavours, chocolate brownie and strawberry, for £6.75. Delish.
‘We believe in making you feel good.’ And there’s little going to make you feel better than one of their ‘fluffy pancakes’ which you can enjoy up until 4pm topped with a host of lovely things from fresh berries, matcha & yoghurt; blueberry, banana, peanut butter and maple syrup; strawberries & chocolate, and crispy bacon with maple syrup. They offer vegan chickpea pancakes too, served with smashed avocado, confit cherry tomatoes, houmous and tomato sauce!
Tuck into a special stack of Slim’s Rainbow Pancakes all day on Tuesday, February 25. Get your pancake fix from Bold Street’s New York-style diner’s deliciously fluffy pancakes topped with fresh berries, chocolate treats, whipped cream and caramel sauce for £7.95 – only available on Pancake Tuesday.
Offering a twist on the traditional sugar and lemon juice topped pancake, Buyers Club wants you to join them for Kimchi Pancake Day on February 25. They’ll be offering a Korean speciality (FYI, kimchi is a fermented vegetable dish) from 5pm till 9pm, with traditional kimchi pancakes or vegan kimchi pancakes which they suggest are washed down with Soju (Korea’s national drink) and beer. There’ll be tunes too from DJ Dave Tate…
It’s its favourite day of the year so, to celebrate Pancake Day, between February 21 and March 1 Bill’s is serving a special pancake menu all day. There are classic and extremely indulgent sweet options, and even a vegan option with vegan pancakes topped with roast tomato, black olives, spinach and purple basil pesto.
For a special lunchtime treat they suggest a delicious savoury dish of sweetcorn pancakes, poached eggs, feta and avocado, with baby spinach, red pepper dressing, coriander & chilli.
Not to be outdone by its sister restaurant The Club House, Smugglers Cover is offering pancake perfection too with the Pancake Hanging Kebab, likewise available not just on Pancake Tuesday – but on Pancake Monday and Wednesday (February 24 and 26) as well! Same mini pancakes served on a kebab stand with a choice of two flavours, chocolate brownie and strawberry. Why can’t it be Pancake Day every day?!
With an All-American style menu you can bet your bottom dollar there’ll be a great pancake selection – and you’ll not be disappointed. Its ‘legendary’ house pancakes are all made fresh to order, and you get a stack of three, dusted with icing sugar and served with Canadian maple syrup and butter – and you can also add blueberries, chocolate and hazelnut spread, ice cream or smoked streaky bacon. Moose even do special pancake stacks with such delights as Apple and Homemade Salted Caramel Pancakes and Banana and Pecan Pancake Stack, and they’re served all day.
You don’t have to be a guest at the plush boutique hotel to enjoy its food and it’s perfectly placed so you can top up your energy reserves before or after your city centre shopping spree. Lock & Key’s belting brunch menu is served from 8am till 3pm and, you’ve guessed it, it serves American-style pancake stacks. There are two to choose from with toppings of banana, raspberries, blueberry puree with white chocolate sauce OR maple syrup and another with blueberries, bacon and maple syrup.
You’d expect a decent pancake selection from this dessert house and, needless to say, it’s unlikely you’ll be disappointed. Of course, they specialise in crepes, a thinner version of the pancake, which is just as tasty. You can go for sweet and simple with butter and a dusting of sugar, to blowout sweet treats like the Bananaberry Crepe, a freshly baked crepe with banana and strawberry slices, drizzled with melted chocolate sauce and sprinkled with milk chocolate flakes.
It’s easy to see why among all the other tasty treats it serves for brunch it’s particularly proud of its pancakes and a boast on its Facebook page ….’If Carlsberg did pancakes….’ says it all. There’s no skimping on the toppings of its thick, fluffy pancakes for which you can choose bananas, strawberries, maple syrup, blueberries, Nutella, thick cream, or streaky bacon.
Of course they do the basic buttermilk pancake with a selection of different toppings but if you fancy a real treat, how about Brasco Lounge’s Diner Brunch? Buttermilk pancakes with smoked streaky bacon, maple syrup, barbecue beans, mini hash browns and two fried eggs…you won’t need to eat for the rest of the day?!
It’s a warm and cosy atmosphere, you’re all relaxed so enjoy…Leaf’s American-style pancakes groaning gorgeously beneath maple syrup, thick Greek yoghurt, blueberry compote…yum.
And at Smithdown Road, there’s an extra special Dosa pancake (made with rice batter) with curried sweet potato, coconut jam, mango salsa and baby spinach.
