Picante launches new Margarita Masterclasses

Since opening its doors in March, Picante has quickly become one of Liverpool’s most vibrant new hotspots, bringing the bold flavours and energy of Guadalajara to the heart of the Cains Brewery Village.

With a menu packed full of tacos, nachos, and over 40 varieties of tequila, the Mexican-inspired cantina has been drawing crowds every weekend.

Now, Picante is preparing to launch the next chapter of its story with the opening of its upstairs space, including a stunning sun-soaked terrace, Más, on Saturday 3rd May—just in time for spring and summer.

Also launching that day is a brand-new series of Margarita Masterclasses, hosted every Saturday by Picante co-founder and industry veteran Kate Meehan. Running from 2pm to 3:30pm, each class includes:

• Four Margaritas to enjoy
• Hands-on cocktail making
• A tequila tasting session
• A plate of quesadillas
• A lively history of the Margarita

With over 20 years of experience across Liverpool and London, Kate has worked everywhere from iconic cocktail bars to gin distilleries in Hackney and Palma. She’s also collaborated with Jamie Oliver’s Drinks Tube, and launched the award-winning Gin Journey and Margarita Masterclass at East London’s Paloma Café—earning top-rated status on Google Maps and industry acclaim.

To mark the opening of the upstairs terrace, Picante will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May, from midday to 8pm, complete with DJs, piñatas, tacos and plenty of Margaritas.

Set across two floors in the former Dockleaf site, Picante is a seasonal pop-up open until the end of September. The venue fuses bright, bold design with historic charm—baby blue tiles, pink accents, and hand-painted signage bring the space to life, while weekend DJs spin Latin-inspired tunes from dusk until dawn.
