On Monday and Tuesday (8 and 9 July) Lifestyles Peter Lloyd is inviting existing and potential members to take a look around some of the revamped areas and meet the team following a £2.2million refurbishment of the venue.

From Wednesday 10 July, members will be welcomed back to enjoy the ‘dry side’ facilities which include:

  • A brand new gym area with top-of-the-range equipment
  • A state-of-the-art spin studio with the capability to run virtual sessions
  • A new group training room
  • A refurbished sports hall including a new sprung floor which will lead to an improved experience for members
  • A revamped welcome area for visitors
  • New hubs to assist existing and potential members with any queries, class bookings and to make payments
  • A refresh of the whole site, including a glow-up of the changing and toilet areas

In addition, there will be new interior and exterior signage across the site and improved car parking bays.

Phase two of the reopening will take place in the coming weeks and will see the swimming pool come back in to use, along with a brand new steam room, an accessible Changing Places toilet, a new, larger family changing room, as well as a total redecoration of the pool-side area.

To celebrate the reopening, there are a number of offers for new and existing members to make the most of over the summer as they get to know their new-look Lifestyles. Full details can be found on the official Peter Lloyd pages on the City Council’s website.

The Tuebrook site originally closed during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, but it remained shut due to essential repairs, including fully replacing the roof, and then addressing the extensive water damage that had occurred inside the venue as a result of leaks.

Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, Councillor Harry Doyle, said:

“I’m delighted that we can finally bring this vital asset back into use with some brand-new facilities and areas which are much more accessible for users.

“We’ve taken the decision to open the ‘dry side’ of the centre first as we still need a few more weeks to ensure the pool is in full working order, but in the meantime we can get customers back into the centre to try out the brand new gym and take part in the many classes that are on offer.

“It has been a frustrating few years for myself and for our Lifestyles members as we have seen the opening date delayed by the extent of the essential remediation work which needed to be undertaken. I’m so pleased that we can finally open our doors, and I can’t wait to see residents making the most of this fantastic, new and improved centre once again.”
