Renowned as a leader in new music discovery, Sound City today announces its 2024 festival day splits, plus Sunday afternoon headliner and Liverpool legend, Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band.

Nestled in the heart of Liverpool – one of the world’s most influential music capitals – Sound City returns to its core multi-venue roots between the 4th-5th May 2024.

Sound City: the dynamic music festival that first graced Liverpool’s streets in 2008 swiftly became a pivotal event for music enthusiasts worldwide. Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, The xx, Alt-J, Courtney Barnett, The Wombats, Royal Blood and Catfish & The Bottlemen to name but a few have passed through Sound City on their way to global stardom. Always looking to celebrate the vital fresh new artists paving their own destinies, Sound City is the  spotlight that’s always shining on the sounds defining the year ahead. The UK’s longest consecutively-running showcase festival, Sound City’s reputation as the kickstart of the summer festival season ensures it’s a must for all music fans, offering a first look at your next favourite artist.

Continuing its uncanny knack for showcasing diverse talent and influencing the music landscape – Today, Sound City welcomes Liverpool legend Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band as Sunday’s special headliner. Alongside a third wave of talented acts and a glimpse into the festival’s daily lineup for the special May weekend.

In the vibrant lineup of talent set to make their mark at the Sound City Festival, Liverpool’s own Michael Head will take centre stage as a true legend. From his beginnings with The Pale Fountains to his journey with Shack and beyond, his influential career has left an indelible mark on UK music. With his heartfelt melodies and poignant lyrics, he continues to enchant audiences, reaffirming his status as a beloved figure in Liverpool’s rich musical tapestry. Headlining the special afternoon set, Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band promise a performance not to be missed in the near religious setting of the Grand Central Hall.

Among the lineup of essential artists poised to define the year ahead, a host of rising stars awaits discovery. From the synth-heavy post-punk of Home Counties to the indie charm of London’s Flat Party, whose debut EP marries jagged art-rock with melodic sixties pop, the diversity of talent on display is unmatched. Manchester’s genre-defying newcomer DellaXOZ, cinematic indie duo Wings Of Desire and an array of names like Soft Launch, Terra Twin, Fraulein, NXDIA, and many more, ensure that Sound City remains a hotspot for new music discovery.

Excitement mounts as Sound City unveils the eagerly awaited Day Splits, offering festival-goers a tantalising look into the scheduling of their favourite acts across the weekend. But that’s not all: for those hungry for more, a special Weekender Upgrade Ticket presents an irresistible opportunity. For a limited time, attendees with day tickets can seize the chance to extend their experience and embrace the full spectrum of Sound City magic throughout the weekend.
