Southport Air Show 2019: Watch all the highlights from a thrilling first day

The Southport sea front provided a dramatic backdrop for day one of the annual Southport Air Show with a fireworks finale that sparkled.

Crowds gathered on Southport beach and sea front on Friday 6th September as the annual Southport Air Show brought drama to the skies. The early evening show was filled with historical aircraft fly overs, fast jets and OTTO the Helicopter- loaded with fireworks to the waterfront.

The dramatic cloudy sky and setting sun provided the perfect backdrop to see these incredible aeroplanes in action. Aerobatics wowed the public who braved the windy waterfront to see the likes of the Hurricane, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and more, roar across the sky. The Friday Southport Air Show also gave us a glimpse of the Air Show Village – down on the ground. Filled with rides, stalls, food and drink, there’s also military vehicles and more for the whole family to explore.

To Friday finale of the Southport Air Show was a photographers dream. The sky was streaked orange and purple as Sirotechnics – the British Musical Fireworks, Champions of Champions added fireworks to the picture. Just stunning.

That’s just the beginning! The Southport Air Show 2019 runs right across the weekend with tickets for beach viewing starting at just £6. Watch as the Tigers Army Parachute Team spiral to the beach, the FireFlies Aerobatic team soar through the sky, inching past each other at tremendous speed.
