Southport Pleasureland is hosting Day of the Dead Family Fiesta this weekend

Southport moves a step closer to Mexico this month (Saturday November 6) when the town’s Pleasureland park opens its gates to get the party of all family-friendly parties started with its annual Day of the Dead celebration – an age old, and incredibly vibrant event, dedicated to celebrating life.

Fireworks, music and more are the themes for this fabulous fiesta which brings the Mexican out in all of us with its colourful Katumba Drummers setting the tempo for the evening, gates open at 5pm.

New for 2021 is the Sugar Skull Stage – hosting performances every 30mins starting at 5.30pm.

The Bring the Fire Project will once again offer fearless feats of fire to marvel at with the fiesta’s high point – a spectacular firework display – lighting up the skies from 8.30pm, so the park’s younger visitors get a chance to witness the wonder.

This Latin-flavoured celebration has quickly become a much-anticipated fixture in the North West’s events calendar and Southport Pleasureland continues to see visitor numbers rise.

Park CEO Norman Wallis said:

“We’ve listened carefully to our visitors.  This is a family event and a lot of fun, very colourful and high-energy.  Families told us they wanted us to move the time of the firework display forward a little so their youngest members wouldn’t miss out.  So, of course, we have – and we’ve made it bigger too.”

At the festival’s heart are the park’s rides, themselves a riot of colour, whirling and pulsating into the evening.

Tickets must be bought online at www.southportpleasureland.com in advance, £24.50 for riders and £10 for non-riders (which includes all the entertainment and fireworks).  The park’s guests will be greeted by fire-juggling stilt walkers.

Unlimited rides during the event are available to customers with rider wristbands.
