Tik Taco Mexican Cantina, the award-winning Mexican restaurant in Southport is celebrating its fifth birthday this weekend.
It was inspired by his travels around the world and his dream of bringing good quality, freshly made authentic Mexican food to his home town.
He has now begun to spread Tik Taco’s growing reputation across the country.
Last year he invested in a smart new Tik Taco food trailer, which has become a popular sight at local events including Southport Food & Drink Festival, Southport Flower Show and the British Musical Fireworks Championships as well as further afield at the likes of Chester Races, Aintree Races and the cricket at Edgbaston.
Tik Taco, which was a Finalist in the Restaurant of the Year category in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards in 2025, offers delicious food and an inclusive menu, with lots of Gluten Free and vegan choices for diners.

Over December they ran a competition for one lucky winner to win a year’s supply of tacos, worth £1,000.
There are more surprises coming soon too with the launch of a brand new menu from 1st March onwards – watch this space.
The new menu will be unveiled at a special Fusion Wine Pairing evening at Tik Taco on Friday 27th February.
Tik Taco is very much a family-run restaurant, with Anthony working side by side along with wife Emma, with lots of support from their son, Max.
Anthony said:
“We’re so excited to be celebrating our fifth birthday this weekend!
“What a journey this has been. Tik Taco started out as a -six-week pop-up restaurant during the Covid pandemic.
“It proved to be hugely popular so we ended up opening this restaurant permanently. Last year we invested in a brand new food trailer too so we can take Tik Taco out to more places.
“I can’t believe we’ve been going for five years already!
“We had a great year last year. Tik Taco was a Finalist in the Restaurant of the Year category in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards in 2025.
“We were also the Southport Restaurant Of The Year winner in the 2025 Your Southport Stars Awards.
“To get such prestigious local recognition was really exciting for us, we were delighted to receive the awards.
“People love coming to our restaurant; we’re very grateful for all the excellent food reviews we get on TripAdvisor and other sites.

“I love Mexican food. Emma and I have travelled to Mexico and Asia a few times, we love finding new places to eat really authentic Mexican and Asian food.
“Some people think of Mexican food as stodgy and spicy, when it’s nothing like that.
“It’s fresh, vibrant, healthy, and full of flavour. We’d love to see more people coming to our restaurant this year to try it!
“We appeal to families, couples, girls’ nights out, we have baby showers, work parties, lots of people coming in.
“Everything is freshly prepared using the best ingredients.
“Some restaurants buy in some of their sauces and other foods in bulk, but we spend time making it fresh every day.
“I buy 200 fresh avocados a week!
“We use seven different chillies which we import from Mexico.
“Our salsa is made fresh every day and we bring in bags of fresh coriander every week.
“The aim is to do our best to do everything fresh, using the best suppliers that we can.
“Around 90% of our menu is suitable for people on a Gluten Free diet; that rises to 100% when we’re out with our food trailer.
“We have lots of vegan options. We want to be as inclusive as possible for our diners.

“We are really popular for takeaways, including our famous Tik Taco Tuesdays!
“Rather than being on apps like justEat, which take a cut of what people pay when ordering, we invested in launching our own Tik Taco app in November.
“It means the money we save on not having to pay to a third party provider we can pass on to our customers by keeping our prices lower and offering better value.
“It’s the same great Tik Taco food – just cheaper!
“This year we’re working with Howdens to bring our Tik Taco food trailer to their stores as a special treat for customers and staff to enjoy. We’re booked to visit their stores on Long Lane; Edge Lane; Liverpool city centre; Blackburn; and hopefully a few more.
“If any other businesses out there would like to book us, we’d love to hear from you.
“In December, we hosted the Christmas party for Access Point, a brilliant local company, so local businesses are welcome to come and book with us too!”
As well as being busy in the restaurant, Anthony and Emma have enjoyed being out on the road, serving up their famous fresh tacos to customers across the UK at more events than ever before last year.
Anthony said:
“We are so excited about the year ahead for Southport! 2026 is going to be an amazing year.
“We are honoured to be able to serve our food at local events such as Southport Food & Drink Festival, Southport Flower Show and the British Musical Fireworks Championships.
“This year we are really looking forward to The Open golf championship coming to Royal Birkdale in Southport.
“We’re keen to welcome any golf fans who love Mexican food! We’re expecting lots of American visitors especially.
“We also have four brand new major events this year in Southport town centre, with Lightport, Cristal Palace, the Big Top Festival and Books Alive!
“It’s going to be a busy and exciting year, with lots of new visitors, and plenty of reasons for people to come and visit Southport.
“We hope they call in here when they do, they won’t be disappointed.”
