St Andrew’s Community Network shares powerful Christmas message of compassion and hope

This Christmas, St Andrew’s Community Network, a Clubmoor-based charity, is encouraging people to reflect on how we can collectively create a more compassionate and just society in the year ahead.

In a heartfelt video, St Andrew’s Community Network shares a poem adapted from an Arabic carol, performed by staff and volunteers.

The message focuses on themes of compassion, justice, and hope, urging communities to address social injustices and inequalities.

The video challenges viewers to envision and work towards a society where no one faces the life-altering effects of poverty.

As the year draws to a close, the Network is busier than ever. With the ongoing cost-of-living crisis taking a toll, the charity’s debt and benefits advisors have been working tirelessly to assist those facing financial difficulties.

Meanwhile, their food banks are experiencing record demand, highlighting the urgent need for support within the community.

Charlotte, Development Lead at the Network, said:

“This year has been tough for a lot of people, with many across our communities still deeply impacted by the cost of living crisis, and this only worsens during the colder months as bills rise. Our advice teams and food provision initiatives have sadly been the busiest they have ever been, and this Christmas we wanted to ask people how we might all work together to support one another and tackle poverty and inequalities across our communities.”
