Summer fun days out just got even better thanks to Merseyrail combo tickets

The summer holidays are in full swing and Merseyrail have a number of brilliant deals on days out that parents and kids will love.

Let’s face it, keeping the kids occupied throughout the summer hols can be stressful and pretty costly, especially if you have more than one little one to entertain! Luckily Merseyrail are on a mission to make days out that little bit more accessible to all with a number of combination and family tickets……the only question now is, where do you want to go? Watch the video above as our Alfie takes you on a tour of the best Merseyside days out.

Fun for all ages with the Merseyrail Family Ticket

We’re willing to bet you didn’t know it was so cheap to travel as a family on the Merseyrail network? For just £11, a family (of up to 5 people) can enjoy unlimited off-peak travel, which is anytime after 9:30am Monday to Friday and anytime over the weekends and bank holidays. How good is that? And whose kids get up and ready before 9:30am during the summer anyway?

While away the hours on our stunning coastline with all the family for just £11….

1 – Formby Nature Reserve

Formby Beach Sand Dunes

Some of the best summer holiday memories are all about fresh air fun, and with mile upon mile of beautiful coast line to explore, the Merseyrail family ticket can get you to the beach in less than an hour (and help keep the cost down too). We’re planning a trip to Formby beach to play in the sand dunes, hunt for squirrels in the pine forest and check out the breath-taking views across to Cumbria. Who’s coming? Nearest station: Freshfield. Plan your seaside day out here.

2 – The Black Pearl, New Brighton

Another seaside trip but with a swashbuckling twist is on offer in New Brighton. Grab your eye-patch and hoist the flag at the Black Pearl pirate ship right down on the beach that overlooks the stunning Liverpool skyline. Work up an appetite exploring far off places and sailing the high seas before heading to Marine Point for lunch or dinner. We hear the chips come with a dollop of ice-cream on top at Caffe Cream! Nearest station: New Brighton. More info here.

Take a walk on the wild side with the Chester Zoo combination ticket

With the recent reopening of the Wirral Loop Line, its easier than ever before to get to Chester Zoo. Why not take advantage of the amazing combination ticket offer from Merseyrail and go wild with your little monkeys this summer holidays? The combination ticket is available from any staffed station across the Merseyrail network and includes reduced admission to the zoo, the shuttle bus journey between the zoo and Chester station and of course, the best value rail ticket.

What’s your favourite animal at Chester Zoo? (Ours are the flamingos!) Tweet us your zoo selfies @TheGuideLpool and we’ll share the best on our socials.
