The Art School Cellars in Liverpool is celebrating winning a coveted national award last night. Amid stiff competition at the People’s Choice Spirits Awards, held in Manchester, the team have been crowned winners of Best Independent Bar 2024.
The Art School Cellars is an intimate downstairs setting to experience an incredible range of cocktails, spirits, wines and beers, with a special focus on mixology and creating new and classic cocktails.
In addition, The Cellars serves an indulgent Afternoon Tea with a private dining space completing the area, with The Art School itself up on the ground floor.
Chef Patron and owner of The Art School, Paul Askew, said:
“We’re immensely proud of winning this great award and to celebrate The Art School Cellars. It’s testament to everyone’s hard work and dedication from my team, as The Cellars is an integral element of The Art School. So to be recognised for this award, especially in our tenth anniversary coming up in September, really feels special to us all.
“We want to thank all of our wonderful customers for their ongoing support for The Art School Cellars and The Art School – we are immensely grateful for it.”
To win a People’s Choice Spirits Awards, hand-picked and enthusiastic spirits consumers are invited each year to judge alongside qualified industry experts making the competition exciting, inclusive and relevant.
This is backed up by spirits professionals, including drinks writers, respected buyers, importers, retailers and distillers who choose an eventual winner for each category. The People’s Choice Spirits Awards began in 2020 and has become one of the UK’s leading hospitality awards.
Chef Patron Paul Askew’s fine dining establishment, The Art School, is set inside the stunning Victorian 1888 ‘Home for Destitute Children’ building.
The glorious Lantern Room’s menus celebrate the best of the region’s seasonal produce in world-class gastronomy, including tasting and prix fixe choices alongside a global wine list.
The bar offers Afternoon Tea and cocktails, there’s a stunning private wine tasting space and The Moriarty Room hosts intimate gatherings at one of the UK’s top 50 best restaurants.
Paul and his team work at the highest gastronomic standards and seek to showcase Liverpool’s dining scene on the national and international stages, building the city’s reputation as a city of culinary excellence.
