Liverpool’s Paper Cup Project, a charity dedicated to supporting the homeless, has recently welcomed a new patron: none other than indie music legend and frontman of The Charlatans, Tim Burgess.
Paper Cup Project has been supporting people living on the streets in Liverpool for almost a decade.
Best known for his illustrious music career as both a solo artist and part of The Charlatans, Tim Burgess has joined the team as a new patron.
Tim has also made a name for himself with his popular online venture, ‘Tim’s Listening Party,’ and has authored several books.
Over the past few years, Tim has actively supported the Paper Cup Project, lending a hand at their Liverpool coffee shop, Paper Cup Coffee, and raising awareness about their impactful work in aiding individuals experiencing homelessness.
Paper Cup Coffee, in Queen Square, provides barista and customer service training to equip those who are struggling with homelessness to apply for jobs within the local hospitality sector.
Michelle Langan, CEO of Paper Cup Project, said:
“it’s a dream come true for us to have Tim joining us as a patron. He has been a great supporter, and has really helped to raise the profile of our small charity. We love it when he comes in to help out in the shop, bringing together coffee and music royalty for a good cause. We feel very lucky to have him on board.”
Tim joins acclaimed writer Frank Cottrell Boyce and local actor Andrew Lancel who are also patrons of the charity.
Paper Cup Coffee is based at 2 Queens Square, and offers a pay it forward system, where customers can buy food or a hot drink for someone experiencing homelessness.
