The brand new augmented reality app brings a zombie apocalypse to the streets of Liverpool ONE, will you hunt, battle, catch or simply hide?

Have you heard? The Zombies have been Unleashed at Liverpool ONE and they’re hiding in plain sight.

Halloween is almost upon us and Liverpool ONE has launched a brand new app for Halloween thrill seekers. Zombies Unleashed uses virtual reality, to enable players to hunt down, capture and do battle with virtual zombies – oh and share your ghoulish selfies of course.

With 170 stores, restaurants and bars to explore, this is one seriously epic game of Halloween hide and seek. The app, which is free to download and is aimed at players aged 12 years and over and it went down a storm when it launched at Liverpool ONE’s Student Event on Wednesday 25 September.

As part of Zombies Unleashed, which uses both augmented and virtual reality, players can track down ‘energy boosters’ in store windows across Liverpool ONE, helping them to tackle more zombies and make their way up the leader board. Providing you’re not hiding in a changing room like us!

Players will unlock their first zombie when they download the app and should then hunt for the others located at seven points across Liverpool ONE. Make sure you use the map to locate the Fun Scare Zone markers for an additional jump!

Now, these creepy invaders are quick on their half-dead feet – so you’re going to need some survival tips. Watch above as our Jay and Kate pick out the top spots for becoming the Zombie Unleashed champion.

Here’s 10 top tips for surviving and thriving at Zombies Unleashed at Liverpool ONE…

1 – Play The Game

First up, download the Zombies Unleashed app from the App Store here or Google Play here and get ready to hunt, battle and capture.

2 – Level Up

If you’re playing to win, keep your eyes peeled for those all important energy boosters in store windows across the Liverpool ONE site.

3 – On Toes

If you’re planning on taking a proactive approach to zombie chasing, you’re going to need a good pair of trainies. Get yourself to Footlocker or JD at Liverpool ONE for the latest kicks.

4 – A Steak Bake through the heart?

One fool proof way to stay safe is to take shelter in Greggs. It’s a known fact that Zombie’s can be taken down with a single Steak Bake. They’re quite partial to a vegan sausage roll though so look sharp.

5 – All Change

Bit of a wuss? Fear not, there’s loads of great hiding places at Liverpool ONE. Probably the most effective of which is a good changing room. Head to Zara, John Lewis or Debenhams to give the freaks the slip.

6 – Ticket to Ride

‘The Chauffeur’ is wandering around Liverpool ONE looking for his ticket to ride. We suggest making a beeline for HMV and get ready to chuck some old school vinyl. It worked for Shaun of the Dead!

7 – Get Physical

Chavasse Park may well be harbouring a ghouls or two as Zombies Unleashed takes its battles to the top level at Liverpool ONE. Make sure you explore the whole site to catch em all – especially Lloyd!

8 – Personal Shopping with Jodie

If you’re looking for a new designer look for the impending festive parties, head to St Peter’s Lane and battle with Jodie the Zombie for the latest must have look. Ps – she’s got that undead trend nailed!

9 – The Dogs

Ultimate Zombies Unleashed thrill seekers should head to The Galleria. No, not to hide in the dark corners of the ODEON, but to take on possibly the scariest zombie of the bunch. They say two heads are better than one!

10 – Liverbird Love

There is some help on offer from a local legend. The Liverbird will appear within the Zombies Unleashed App to explain how everything works. Stay alert, keep your energy levels up and catch them before they get you!
