A multi-disciplinary community arts festival showcasing the best of art, mythology, theatre, film, music and magic is set to return to Liverpool this spring.

The acclaimed Angel Field Festival will celebrate its sixth year with an action-packed 11-day line-up between Wednesday 6 and Saturday 16 March.

Hosted by Liverpool Hope University’s Creative Campus, the popular festival is an annual celebration of all forms of artistic expression that promises fun for all the family.

The 2024 instalment kicks off with Crab Tragedy, a topsy-turvy, heroic mis-adventure and retelling of the myths of ancient Greece. This hilarious and highly visual show is brought to you by the internationally recognised clowning team at Teatro Pomodoro and is guaranteed to entertain children and adults alike.

Also among this year’s headline acts are the UK’s No.1 jive and swing band, the Jive Aces.

The first band to reach the live finals of Britain’s Got Talent, their high energy performances have earned them a global fan base over the course of a 25-year career that has seen them play for Queen Elizabeth and sell out the Royal Albert Hall.

The Comedy Illusionists, a unique act that infuses comedy and custom made illusions and The Empress and Me, a one-woman show presented by Liverpool Confucius Institute, are among the other star attractions.

Starring Michelle Yim, The Empress and Me tells the amazing true story of Princess Der Ling and her search for identity in an ever-changing world.

As the daughter of a Chinese Diplomat and Eurasian mother, Princess Der Ling was raised in France to be every bit the Victorian Lady, but later finds herself living in the Forbidden City and entangled in the politics of the Chinese Court as lady-in-waiting to the infamous Empress Cixi.

Angel Field’s full line-up includes 18 performances or exhibitions. Building on Liverpool’s distinct tradition of culture and arts, it will provide an exciting blend of local and international artists and both paid-for and free events that delight, challenge, captivate and exhilarate with diverse content that celebrates excellence in the arts in an inclusive environment.
