Watch: The M&S Bank Arena Liverpool is back with some huge names playing in the city

The M&S Bank Arena Liverpool is preparing to welcome back thousands of visitors with a phenomenal line-up.

Pop sensations McFly will take to the stage on September 28 followed by a string of major artists including Genesis, Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, Richard Ashcroft, JLS, Rick Astley, Fatboy Slim, Steps and Gary Barlow.

Crowds can also look forward to a fantastic programme of sporting events over the next few months including Championship Boxing, A Question of Sport Live and the Voltaire Design Liverpool International Horse Show.

It will be the first time the arena has staged full capacity shows since it closed due to the pandemic in March 2020.

Faye Dyer, managing director of The ACC Liverpool Group, operator of the M&S Bank Arena, said:

“We are so excited to welcome back thousands of visitors to our venue starting with McFly next week (Sept 28).  We have an amazing line-up of shows coming up over the next few months with some huge artists.

“While we have managed to stage some events since restrictions eased in July, this will be the first time we have been able to deliver full capacity shows and we are just as thrilled as our customers to finally be able to do this.

“We appreciate how patient fans have been as many of these shows have been rearranged so we would like to thank everyone for their understanding.  Now it’s time to enjoy some fantastic entertainment.”

Looking further ahead, 2022 highlights include Strictly Come Dancing Live Arena Tour, Dave, Men and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics British Championships, Little Mix and Dua Lipa.

While there are currently no legal restrictions or requirements for Covid secure measures at events, the M&S Bank Arena will be providing a safe environment for visitors with a number of measures including encouraging customers to wear face coverings within communal areas, optional venue check-in, cashless payment at retail areas, enhanced cleaning, fresh air handling systems and sanitiser stations across the venue.

All customers (aged 12 and over and unless medically exempt) should be prepared to show proof of one of the following:

  • A valid NHS Covid pass via the NHS App or an NHS COVID Pass letter (available by phoning 119 and selecting “NHS COVID Pass Service”)
  • Text or email proof of a negative lateral flow or PCR test result (within the last 48 hours); or
  • Proof that you have been double vaccinated and at least 14 days have passed since the date of your last vaccination by presenting a Covid Vaccination Card or any overseas proof of vaccination status; or
  • Text or email proof that you have previously had Covid -19 within 180 days of arrival for the event (and after the 10-day self-isolation period following the result)

For the safety of all, please note that spot checks will be made and failure to comply with these requirements may result in refusal of entry.

Free at home Lateral Flow Tests are available via the NHS here
