Watch what happened on day one of the Wirral Food and Drink Festival 2019
5 years ago
A world class Wirral park rekindled a love affair between its local community and locally produced food. This was day one of the Wirral Food and Drink Festival 2019.
The weather was kind at Birkenhead Park today as the Wirral Food and Drink Festival 2019 got underway. Packed with stalls offering local food, drink and produce, the site was busy from the moment gates opened.
Visitors of all ages poured into the park to not only sample the best local food, but also to learn top tips from the regions top chefs with a series of Chef Masterclasses. They were so popular it was standing room only! Family fun came in the shape of a fun fair, giant sand pit, street theatre, thrilling choir performances and kids cookery classes – part of the wider aim of teaching the regions kids to fall in love with cooking.
As the last of the stalls cleaned down their counters and prepared for tomorrows event, the after dark, ticketed entertainment was just getting started. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra played its only outdoor event in the UK on Saturday evening for an enraptured crowd. All your favourite film scores and British classics performed live, under the stars in the heart of Birkenhead Park! That’s what we call making memories.
