West End smash hit musical SIX to visit the Playhouse in 2020
5 years ago
A musical about the six wives of Henry VIII that has wowed audiences in the West End will visit the Playhouse in March 2020.
SIX puts Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boelyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleaves, Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr centre stage, as the wives transform into pop princesses to tell their own tale. The production visits the Playhouse from 3-7 March 2020 for eight performances.
Co-directed by Lucy Moss and Jamie Armitage, SIX remixes five hundred years of historical heartbreak into an 80-minute celebration of 21st century girl power. These Queens may have green sleeves but their lipstick is rebellious red.
SIX has had a whirlwind two years since its premiere as a student production at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2017, touring multiple countries and selling out on the West End. The production will open on Broadway next year.

Gemma Bodinetz, artistic director at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Theatres, said:
“I was invited to see SIX in the West End some months ago and I returned to Liverpool determined to bring it to the Playhouse. It’s a sassy, joyful show with fabulous performances and music. I’m not surprised it’s gone on to become an International hit. I’m really looking forward to seeing it again with a Liverpool audience.”
The touring Queens will be played by Lauren Drew (Catherine of Aragon), Maddison Bulleyment (Anne Boleyn), Lauren Byrne (Jane Seymour), Shekinah McFarlane (Anna of Cleves), Jodie Steele (Katherine Howard) and Athena Collins (Catherine Parr), with Alternates Jennifer Caldwell, Cassandra Lee and Harriet Watson. The cast are backed by the show’s all-female band, The Ladies in Waiting.
