What we know about the artists announced to play Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool

Liverpool is gearing up for one of the most exciting events in the country as Radio 1’s Big Weekend finally comes to the city, bringing an incredible lineup of artists. 

From rising stars to chart-topping legends, here’s everything we know about the artists already announced to take the stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Liverpool.

Headliner – Sam Fender

A household name and one of the UK’s brightest stars, Sam Fender is a must-see act at Radio 1’s Big Weekend. 

The BRIT Award-winning singer-songwriter, from North Shields, has captivated fans across the nation with hits like “Seventeen Going Under”, “Hypersonic Missiles”, and “Spit of You”.

Sam is known for his electrifying festival sets. He’s performed at Glastonbury on the Pyramid Stage, headlined Truck Festival, and delivered unforgettable shows at TRNSMT and Latitude.

Blossoms

Indie-pop band Blossoms are no strangers to festival stages. 

The Stockport band has built a reputation for their polished sound and hits like “Charlemagne”, “There’s a Reason Why”, and “Your Girlfriend”. 

They’ve earned legions of fans and even topped the UK album charts multiple times. 

They’ve played at some of the biggest festivals in the world, including Glastonbury, where they performed on the Pyramid Stage, and Coachella in the U.S. They’ve also wowed fans at TRNSMT Festival, Isle of Wight Festival, and Y Not Festival.

And now, Blossoms will be retuning to Liverpool once again after playing at Sefton Park in 2021.

Wet Leg

Since bursting onto the scene with their hit song “Chaise Longue”, Wet Leg has quickly become one of the UK’s most talked-about bands.

Their self-titled debut album, which won the Mercury Prize, is packed with tracks perfect for a festival crowd. 

They’ve also played stages at Reading and Leeds Festivals, Primavera Sound, and Latitude – so expect plenty of energy and singalong moments when Wet Leg hit the stage.

Lola Young

Lola Young is one of the UK’s most promising young singer-songwriters. 

With her soulful voice, she has been compared to greats like Adele and Amy Winehouse. 

Lola’s breakthrough came with her rendition of “Together in Electric Dreams” for a John Lewis Christmas ad, and she’s already made an impression at festivals like Latitude and The Great Escape, where she showcased her raw talent to audiences. 

Her stripped-back performances have proven she’s one to watch.

Myles Smith

A rising star with a voice that’s smooth as silk, Myles Smith is making waves in the industry with his soulful pop sound. 

Expect to hear tracks like “Wasted Love” and “Before You Go” at the Big Weekend. 

While his festival appearances have been more low-key compared to the rest of the lineup, Radio 1’s Big Weekend could mark a turning point for him.

Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2025 is set to take place over three days, for an unforgettable weekend of music. And now, the festival is finally coming to Liverpool, held at the iconic Sefton Park on 23 – 25 May 2025.
