What we know so far about Christmas in Liverpool 2019

Okay so it’s still a good few weeks until the festivities properly begin in Liverpool but you know us, we like to be prepared. Christmas in Liverpool is going to be epic. It’s too soon to predict the white stuff but there’s a whole lot we do know and you can get booking now!


Here’s everything we know so far about Christmas in Liverpool….

Pantos

Cinderella at The Epstein

The star-studded line up for Cinderella at The Epstein Theatre is a comedy lovers dream! Emmerdale’s Sammy Winwood takes up the lead as Cinders and is joined by Chrissy Rock, Sarah White & Warren Donnelly from Shameless. If the launch event is anything to go by, this is going to be the funniest family panto yet! The fun starts on 6th December 2019. Tickets here. 

Snow White, Auditorium, M&S Bank Arena

The fabulous Leanne Campbell returns as the Wicked Queen in Snow White at the M&S Bank Arena this Christmas in Liverpool. Kicking off on 13th and running until Christmas eve, this classic tale gets a special effects make over with a whole load of sparkle! Ellie Turner plays Snow with the hilarious Mark Hudson as Dame Dolly. Tickets and info here.

Aladdin, St Helens Theatre Royal

The amazing Regal Entertainments has only gone and bagged a Strictly Come Dancing star for their Christmas panto, Aladdin this December. Robin Windsor joins a hugely talented cast including – Phillip McGuinness, Si Foster, Jenna O Hara, Kai Jolley and Olivia Sloyan. Travel to the mysterious middle east for this brilliant family escapade packed with songs everyone can join in with. Tickets here. 

Peter Pan at The Liverpool Empire

 

Swashbuckling fun comes to the Liverpool Empire from 7th – 29th December as Peter Pan brings familiar faces to the city centre stage. Starring Brookside’s Louis Emerick, Tony Maudsley, John Elliot and Asa Elliot – you’re invited to take an unforgettable trip to Neverland on the Jolly Roger. Tickets and more info here. 

Snow White, Floral Pavilion

From Saturday 7th December until 5th January, families can enjoy a magical fairytale adventure at New Brighton Floral Pavilion. Snow White is brought to life with plenty of sparkle and mischief – starring Liverpool’s own Claire Sweeney, Luke Walsh, Sean Jones and Phillip Meeks – who this year celebrates a decade of playing the hilarious pantomime dame. Rock N Roll Sleeping Beauty, Everyman Theatre

A Bohemian Napsody rewind of the traditional Sleeping Beauty fairy tale comes to the Everyman Theatre this Christmas. Running from 23rd November until 18th January, the rock n roll panto is always a hugely popular choice for families and stars writer/producer duo Sarah A Nixon and Mark Chatterton. Packed with amazing songs, costumes, dance numbers and comedy – head this way to get your tickets now.


Markets

Wirral Christmas Bazaar

Wirral’s iconic Christmas Bazaar returns to Thornton Manor on 5th-6th November. Raising much needed funds for North West Cancer Research – this spectacular festive shopping event brings together carefully selected stalls from around the region. More info here. 

Christmas Market, St George’s Hall

Liverpool’s Christmas Market returns to St George’s Hall from 15th November. Stalls, bars and lots of yummy food vendors will fill the traditional wooden huts alongside fair ground rides until 23rd December. More on opening times and what vendors you can expect soon.

Winter Arts Market, Liverpool Cathedral

If buying personalised, truly unique gifts for your loved ones at Christmas is your bag – get to the Winter Arts Market at Liverpool Cathedral. Taking place on 7th December, you can expect hundreds of independent arts and crafts stalls, food, drink and music. Find out more here.

Aintree Racecourse Christmas Market

There’s more than 50 stalls on offer at the Aintree Racecourse Christmas Market. Taking place on 30th November – 1st December, you can expect sweet treats, crafts, arts, food and drink, fair ground rides, live entertainment and lots of festive fun. Find out more here. 


The Footy

Everton have three fixtures around Christmas week. Arsenal at home on Dec 21st, Burnley at home on Boxing Day and Newcastle away on 28th December. Liverpool head to the King Power stadium on Boxing Day to take on Leicester. The reds also take on Wolves on 28th December back at Anfield. Christmas jumpers and new trainies at the ready!


Grottos

Enchanted Knowsley Safari

Enchanted Knowsley returns to Knowsley Safari Park on selected dates from 23rd November 2019. Enjoy the safari park after dark and wander the magical illuminated pathways, animals and a cosy Santa’s Grotto. Head this way to find out more and book. Watch above to see how much fun we had last year!

Breakfast With Santa & The Elf Trail, Allerton Manor

Allerton Manor invites families to enjoy a magical experience this Christmas. Taking place on selected dates throughout December, you’ll be welcomed to The Hay Loft where you and your children can enjoy a delicious cooked breakfast and meet Father Christmas! There will be story time with Santa and each child can read their Christmas list to Santa. All children will receive a special gift from Santa. Find out about the Elf Trail here. 

Sunday Lunch with Santa, The Venue

On Sunday 15th December you can enjoy a traditional 3 course lunch with Santa at The Venue, Royal Liver Building. The stunning venue is transformed into a winter wonderland for a family afternoon of festival fun and games with the big ma himself. Ultimate Christmas Experience, Otterspool Adventure

There’s a whole load of festive fun on offer at Otterspool Adventure this Christmas. For one ticket price kids and adults can visit Santa in his Grotto and receive a gift, visit his ‘Make a Bear’ workshop, watch Lee Kelly Panto Cinderella, plus take a pic on the ice throne, have breakfast with santa and enjoy unlimited play on all the attractions including the Christmas ice rink. Elf Adventure Challenge

St George’s Hall is hosting a brand new, interactive experience for families this Christmas. Elf Adventure Challenge invited you to take part in elf games and activities, music, stories and earn your certificate of Honorary Elf. This is an indoor, 50 minute long experience that is suitable for 2 – 10 year olds, the fun begins on 30th November 2019. Find out more and book here.

The Venue RLB

The city’s most iconic landmark, the Royal Liver Building, offers you the chance to party in style this Christmas. The Venue at RLB is offering tailor made parties for up to 200 people. The Club House

The Club House is easily one of the most festive venues around the city and where best to raise a glass to old St Nick! Book a table and tuck into a two or three course meal featuring dishes such as sirloin steak, turkey hanging kebabs, smoked salmon fillets and moreish vegetarian en croute. Gino’s

Gino is lining up the Christmas cocktails to accompany a lunch and party menus this winter. Feast on meatballs, turkey escalope, sea bass, butternut squash risotto, calamari and more. Who doesn’t love a little festive tipple with their lunch? Liverpool ONE Christmas Launch Street Party

Liverpool ONE

The Liverpool ONE Christmas Launch Party takes place on Friday 15th November from 4pm. Last year visitors enjoyed street theatre, music, choir performances and of course karaoke at Bar Hutte underneath that incredible LED lit tree. Keep your eyes peeled for more info soon.

Illuminated City with Liverpool BID & The Festive Group

Liverpool BID has teamed up with The Festival Group to replicate an international light spectacular. Liverpool BID Showcase Event will include a number of light installations for visitors of all ages to enjoy. The main event will be a 70m tunnel of lights and music. Keep you eyes peeled for the angel wing selfie spots and Christmas lights spanning the city streets. More info here. 

Luna Cinema, St George’s Hall

The Luna Cinema is due to return to St George’s Hall this December. Returning with all your favourite festive films, you can watch the big screen with fresh popcorn in the iconic Great Hall. From 17th – 23rd December you can watch family faves like Elf, Home Alone and The Greatest Showman, plus the likes of Die Hard, Love Actually and The Holiday. More info here. 

Speigeltent at The Baltic

Launching on 28th November, Speigeltent is a brand new addition to the events programme this Christmas in Liverpool. Head to Cain’s Brewery Village and check out a whole host of live entertainment on offer including dub poetry, music, acrobatics, dancing, kids disco events, Sunday socials and loads more. Prescot Town Switch On

Prescot Town has undergone an amazing transformation in 2019 and to top it all off, Christmas has come early. The town business owners came together to enter a competition to win £10,000 worth of Christmas lights, and they won! Dates for the big switch on and details of a live musical performance will be released soon.

Christmas Films, The Palm House Sefton Park

From 16th – 18th December, the stunning Palm House at Sefton Park will play host to family friendly Christmas films with both afternoon and evening showings. The Grinch, Love Actually, White Christmas, Polar Express, Elf & The Snowman will be on the big screen and you’re invited to get cosy, enjoy a visit from Father Christmas and have a boogie at the disco afterwards (family afternoon sessions only). Carols By Lantern Light, St George’s Hall

St George’s Hall is playing host to a number of festival events throughout the winter time, but none is more traditional than Carols by Lantern light. Join mezzo soprano Danielle Thomas as she performs classic Christmas songs surrounded by 100 lanterns – guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit. More here. 

The Scouse Snow White Royal Court

Panto fun isn’t just for the kids this Christmas in Liverpool. The Scouse Snow White opens at the Royal Court Theatre on 22nd November and is definitely adult only viewing. Snow runs into some dwarves who think she’s a bit of a high hoe. There’s also a minging witch, a creepy letch and tonnes of jokes, music and proper belly laughs. More here. 

Liberte Roof Top Ice Bar & Igloos

The hugely popular igloo’s at Liberte will be joined by a city first this winter. A rooftop ice bar will welcome customers throughout December with comfy sofas, twinkly lights and unrivalled views of the city skyline and Three Graces. That’s what we call Christmas drinks with style.

Southport Christmas Light Switch On

Southport town centre will welcome 90’s chat sensation, Peter Andre for its big light switch on. Taking place on Sunday 17th November – Peter will be joined by Liverpool legend Sonia and Wet Wet Wet singer Kevin Simm on the night. There’s a whole day of entertainment planned with CBBC Presenter Sid, fair ground rides, street performances and more. Info here.

Liverpool Philharmonic is a wonderful venue to enjoy the festivities in Liverpool. This December you can enjoy Christmas films such as It’s A Wonderful Life and Elf, plus make lasting memories with the kids at Sing Along With Santa. There’s also the annual Spirit of Christmas concert, A Welsh Choral Christmas with Aled Jones and Carols By Candlelight. More here.
