What’s on between Christmas and New Year in Liverpool
6 hours ago
The fun doesn’t end when the man in red’s paid a visit, and you’ve stuffed yourself with turkey and chocs.
There’s still tons going on in Liverpool to keep the festivities going between Christmas and New Year.
Take this little lot for starters.
Liverpool ONE
You’ve still got the chance to celebrate Après Ski Style, with Bar Hütte in Chavasse Park until December 31. You can book for Karaoke Huttes and Party Lodges to belt out those festive ballads and show off your signature moves, and younger kids especially will love a trip to Christmas on the Park with its a great mix of children’s rides and festive games, plus tasty food and treats to keep you fuelled up. And if you got money or vouchers off your nearest and dearest for Chrimbo, you can pick up some bargains at the Boxing Day sales. Liverpool ONE stores are open from 10am to 6pm.

Day out in Southport
If you’ve overdone it with the turkey and sprouts a good walk on the seafront will be just the thing you need – but there’s more than just fresh salty air waiting for you in our fave seaside town. You can go ice skating in Victoria Park until December 30; go on The Gingerbread Family Trail (and be in with the chance of winning prizes if you find all 10 characters); enjoy the illuminations and catch a panto with Sleeping Beauty at The Atkinson.
Boxing Day racing at Aintree
And they’re off – and so can you be! Boxing Day isn’t just about the Reds and Blues in post-Christmas action, it’s also a big day for race fans and Aintree will be keeping the festivities going with a fantastic family-friendly day of racing and entertainment. There’s a full day of racing with gates opening at 9.55am and the final race at 3.25pm – plus Grandstand and Paddock tickets are free for under-18s.

Pantos continue
If you fancy a panto you’re spoilt for choice, but whichever one you choose you can be sure of all the best panto magic with slapstick comedy, songs and loads of topical gags. You can expect live music and mayhem at the Everyman’s rock ‘n’ roll panto Rapunzel; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is on at Theatre Royal St Helens and, at the Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton, you’ve got The Further Adventures of Peter Pan – The Return of Captain Hook.
Or what about a panto for the big kids at the Royal Court?
Really not one to take the little kids to this is an adults-only panto, but the grown-ups can expect plenty of laugh-out-loud lines in a fairytale classic with a twist at the Royal Court with Scouse Red Riding Hood. Christmas is coming and nan is laid up as her sciatica is giving her gyp. It’s down to Little Red and her mate Big Blue to get out to her cottage in Spinney Woods with some proper scran…

Visit our museums
It’s hard to know where to start because there’s so much going on throughout Christmas and New Year, like The Holly Johnson Story and Sweet: The Taverners Story at the Museum of Liverpool, and Bees: A Story of Survival atWorld Museum. Bedazzled is at the Lady Lever, shining a spotlight on the appeal of beaded and sequinned dresses and their place in fashion history and, at the Walker Art Gallery, one of the most renowned paintings and sculptures collections in the UK as well as exhibitions like Conversations, bringing together work by leading black women and non-binary artists.
