Shawshank Redemption at Floral Pavilion

Fans of the classic film with Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are going to love this stage version at the Floral Pavilion all week. The prison drama’s two main roles – unlikely friends, contraband smuggler Ellis ‘Red’ Redding and banker Andy Dufresne – are played by Ben Onwukwe and Joe McFadden, with Bill Ward as Warden Stammas, in a powerful adaptation at the Floral from Tues-Sat.
November racing at Aintree Racecourse

Crisp autumn days are perfect for a trip to the races, and there’s a great date in the racing calendar this Saturday when Aintree hosts its annual Grand Sefton Day. Gates open at 10.20am, so get there early to take in Aintree’s fantastic atmosphere before racing starts at 12.20pm right through to the last race at 3.50pm.

This new stage version, featuring Belinda Lang and BAFTA winner Juliet Aubrey, is a must-see for lovers of the book, at the Playhouse until Saturday.

Boyband icons are having a moment, and any revival wouldn’t be complete without the return of 5ive. Abz Love, J Brown, Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson and Sean Conlon are back after 25 years on their Keep On Movin’ 2025 tour, with massive dates at the Arena this Wednesday and November 30.
Fireworks at Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens

Keep Bonfire Night safe as well as spectacular by heading to the home of St Helens rugby for a night of live entertainment including dancers, musicians and a DJ along with children’s entertainment, face painting, inflatables and other activities, all building up to a giant laser light and pyrotechnics display.

Remembrance Sunday, St George’s Hall

This Sunday a Remembrance Sunday service at St George’s Hall honours the sacrifice of servicemen and woman past and present and marks 80 years since VE Day and VJ Day. Military bands will play from 10.40am before at two-minute silence at 11am, followed by a wreath-laying and parade.
Celebrity Traitors watch party at BOXPARK Liverpool

If you’ve been obsessed by Celebrity Traitors you won’t need reminding that Thursday is the finale, when we find out if one of the last few faithfuls is going to out-smart the two surviving traitors to get the cash prize for their charities. Fans can watch all the drama unfold at BOXPARK, 7pm to 11pm, with a screening followed by an Uncloaked after party.
