It’s the last Derby Day of the season and it’s a huge one, with European places at stake for Reds and Blues. If you’re not heading to Hill Dickinson on Sunday, don’t miss out on all the atmosphere – watch it on the big screen instead with a few drinks in The Long Shot at Albert Dock, PINS or Dicey Reilly’s.


Conteh launches at Liverpool’s Royal Court

Former boxing world champion John Conteh is one of the most legendary names in Liverpool sport and a new play which opens at the Royal Court this week tells his incredible life story. The cast is led by Aron Julius, who also wrote Conteh, and features Helen Carter and Mark Moraghan. From Friday to May 9.

Double Indemnity at the Playhouse

Hollywood actress Mischa Barton – remember her from The OC? – is making her UK theatre debut in a new stage adaptation of Double Indemnity at the Playhouse this Tuesday until Saturday. Set in the 1930s Great Depression, she plays Phyllis Nirdlinger, a femme fatale with plans to commit the perfect murder.
