What’s on This Week in Liverpool 13th – 19th May 2019

We’ve got a jam-packed week lined up. Who’s ready for LightNight and Eurovision?


We’re starting the week with the prospect of amazingly good weather, so our plans involve a lot of fresh air! We’ve got markets, LightNight events, a crazy Eurovision party at Camp & Furnace. An all-dayer at Yard, breakfast dockside, Sir Ian McKellan is in town, so is Jo Brand and Salt Dog Slim’s turns 7 with an epic birthday bash.

Monday 13th May

Veggie Brekkie, Peaberry Coffee House & Kitchen

Treat yourself to a halloumi and avocado bagel at Peaberry Coffee House & Kitchen at Royal Albert Dock this week. There’s a fab menu of locally sourced, freshly prepared breakfast and brunch dishes available and rich, silky coffee too. Menus here. 

Ignite, Leaf on Bold Street

Ignite is back at Leaf on Bold Street an if you like your Monday night pint, coffee or bite to eat with an insight into the lives and work of the city’s movers, shakers and creative makers, stop by and grab a seat. £3 on the door. More info here. 

Game of Thrones Season 8 Screening, Bierkeller

Game of Thrones should only ever be viewed on 3 giant screens with a stein in your hand. Get to Bierkeller on Monday from 7pm to watch the latest bloody instalment. Tickets here. 


Tuesday 14th May

RLB 360, Royal Liver Building

Have you seen the inner workings of the iconic Royal Liver Building and the views from the very top? RLB 360 is a must-do for all Scousers, go while the weather looks amazing and get some brand new snaps of the city roof tops. More info here.

Jo Brand In Conversation, Liverpool Philharmonic

The one and only Jo Brand brings her unique, straight talking comedy to WoW Fest at Liverpool Philharmonic on Tuesday at 8pm. Born Lippy is Jo’s frank, honest and hilarious take on being a woman, in conversation with Royal Court and Emmerdale actress Eithne Brown. Tickets here. 

2-4-1 Pizza & Quiz Night, The Elephant Pub & Bakehouse

Every Tuesday its buy one get one free pizza at Woolton’s Elephant Pub & Bakehouse. The offer is available all day from 12pm and the weekly quiz kicks off at 9pm. May as well make a night of it! Info here. 


Wednesday 15th May

Veggie Feast, Baby E Coffee

It’s National Vegetarian Week and we can’t get enough of the fresh pasta, salads and specials on offer at Dale Street’s Baby E coffee. Freshly prepared in-house every day, bag a seat on the terrace out the back and people watch with a veggie feast. More info here. 

Live Lounge at The Florist

There’s an evening of live music happening on Wednesday as Live Lounge at The Florist returns after a hugely successful debut back in April. Expect amazing local talent from the students at LIPA, all the cocktails and of course plenty of selfies. Free entry. More info here. 

Salt Dog Slim’s 7th Birthday

It goes off in Slim’s most weeks so you just know their 7th birthday celebration on Wednesday will 100% get messy. It’s free entry, free booze, mega prize giveaway, celeb guest DJ’s, full blown petting zoo, the lot! More info here. 


Thursday 16th May

Get Your Head Around Code, Plaza

Liverpool based innovateher is hosting a free, 2 hour session at the Cotton Exchange from 6pm for those who want to learn about coding. No experience needed, drop by after work and boost your skills and confidence!, all you need is a laptop. Book on here. 

Ravin’ Fit, Walton Sports Centre

Ravin Fit is back at Walton Sports Centre on Thursday night from 7pm with all the best club tunes and a work out that feels like a night out. Guys and girls working on their summer bodies, get booking here. 

Hello Dolly! Liverpool Empire

Meddling widow Dolly Levi brings her sassy attitude, big Braodway songs and spectacular dance performances to Liverpool Empire from Thursday. Dolly has been previously been played by some stage royalty, we’re talking Streisand and Midler! Treat your mum or your nan and sing along to the classics. Book here. 


Friday 17th May

LightNight 2019

It’s finally here! LightNight 2019 brings more than 100 free activities and events to city venues for free, for one night only. There’s literally something for everyone, music, dance, art, craft, theatre, drag, fire and more all based on the theme: Ritual. Plan your LightNight here. 

LiveHop, Circo

There’s a really special night at Circo on Friday. LiveHop dance, rap and DJ battles are all about getting our youngsters to put knives down and pic up a mic. Giveaways, guest judges and a proper good crowd. Tickets here.


Saturday 18th May

Sir Ian McKellan On Stage, Playhouse Theatre

The man, the legend that is Sir Ian McKellen performs live at the Playhouse Theatre on Saturday. Celebrating his 80th birthday with a UK tour, he’s talking all things Tolkein, Shakespeare and more. Tickets here. 

Yard X Melodic Distraction Open Air All Dayer

Melodic Distraction is lining up 10 hours worth of amazing, sun soaked live music from 1pm at Yard this Saturday. The likes of Jimmy Allen, Subcora, Benny Maths and more will perform live with DJ’s and all the summer vibes. More info and tickets here. 


Sunday 19th May

Preloved Vintage Sale, Merseyside Maritime Museum

It’s just £1.50 entry to have a rummage through a whole load of preloved vintage clothing at the Merseyside Maritime Museum on Sunday from 10am until 6pm. It’s £15 per kilo, so fill yer boots, or bags and shop sustainably! More info here. 

Hope Street Makers Market

Hope Street Makers Market is also back on Sunday from 11am. This monthly gathering brings out some of the top local independent producers, crafters, foodie stalls, art and more to the cobbled Georgian Quarter. More info here. 

Sunday Roast, Castle Street Townhouse

The talented Ben Paveley provides the acoustic soundtrack to your casual Sunday dining plans at Castle Street Townhouse. Available from 12pm til 7pm every Sunday, chefs freshly prepare a range of meats and seasonal veg to keep us coming back for more. Look at that Yorkshire pudding! Book here. 


One for the Kids

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show , Epstein Theatre

Treat the kids to a stage version of this hugely popular tale. The Hungry Caterpillar comes to the Epstein Theatre on Sunday with 75 different puppets to enthral fans of all ages. Watch your snacks though, you know what he’s like. Tickets here.
