What’s On This Week in Liverpool 17th – 23rd June 2019

We’ve got all the very best gigs, theatre, sport and dining action happening his week in Liverpool.


This week in Liverpool is going to be a truly memorable one. Rock legends Bon Jovi kick start a massive week of music before Africa Oye takes over Sefton Park, Foo Fighters GB play a live set at Birdies Bar and Liverpool Soul Weekender brings the funky to the Baltic.

Food wise it’s all about market style dining as both Woodside Ferry Village and Duke Street Food and Drink Market open their doors to the masses. We’re also loving seaside dining in Southport and we’re heading to Allerton Road for a fabulous brunch ahead of the 18th annual Liverpool International Tennis Tournament at Liverpool Cricket Club. It’s all go!

Monday 17th June

Blitzed, Museum of Liverpool

If you do one thing this summer in Liverpool, make sure it’s Blitzed at Museum of Liverpool. This incredible series of photographs shows the devastated it brought to the city and its inhabitants throughout 1940-41. It’s free and a real must-see. Info here. 

Grazing Platters & Wine, The Hungry Monk, Southport

There’s so much more to dining in Southport than fish & chips on the seafront! If you fancy dining somewhere new, check out The Hungry Monk at Cambridge Arcade for fabulous grazing sharing boards accompanied with a crisp, fresh glass of white. Menus and more here.

Salsa Monday, PIMA Bar

Fancy learning how to swivel your hips, enjoy a little tipple and join a super friendly community this week in Liverpool? Head to PIMA Bar at Hilton Hotel Liverpool and join in Salsa Monday from 8pm. They’re a really welcoming bunch and you kind of burn off your drink while your dance! More info here. 


Tuesday 18th June

Lunch at Woodside Ferry Village

A little but of what you fancy with fabulous views over the Mersey! There’s a whole host of local food vendors dishing up their own specialities at the brand new Woodside Ferry Village and since opening on Saturday, the 5* reviews are coming in thick and fast.

Wine tasting, Lunyalita

There’s 8 different wines on offer at Lunyalita, Royal Albert Dock on Tuesday evening from 6:30pm. Lunya has one of the UK’s best Spanish wine collections and this night will showcase many of them with tasty treats to accompany them. More info and booking here. 

The Big BrewDog Quiz

Finish off your Tuesday in the city by smashing the weekly Big Brewdog Pub Quiz from 8pm. There’s a whole variety of themes from music and film to tv, general knowledge and more. Pint and a quiz, yeah go on. More info here. 


Wednesday 19th June

Duke Street Food & Drink Market

The highly anticipated Duke Street Food & Drink Market has opened the doors on its brand new, two storey, 500sqft space, and it was so worth the wait. Home to a multitude of independent food vendors plus Pilgrim Restaurant, this is the place to dine this summer in Liverpool. More info here. 

The Wizard of Oz, 80th Anniversary Liverpool Philharmonic

There’s no place….like Liverpool Philharmonic Hall which celebrates its 80th Anniversary with a very special screening of The Wizard of Oz on Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. There’s wizard themed cocktails and you’re invited to dress up as your favourite character too. Some tickets available here. 

Bon Jovi, Anfield Stadium

Wooaaahhhhh we’re half way there, woah Anfield prepare! This week in Liverpool, American rock legends (and  our favourite Twitter lyric responses EVER) Bon Jovi bring their ‘This House Is Not For Sale’ tour to Anfield on Wednesday night. Thursday 20th June

Bottomless Bagel Brunch, East River

Liverpool International Tennis Tournament

Back for its 18th year, the BMW Williams Liverpool International Tennis Tournament returns to Liverpool Cricket Club on Thursday 20th June for four days of tennis action. Step Into Summer, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation invites you to step into summer and walk a waterfront pathway this Friday evening. This over 16’s only fundraiser begins at 6:30pm and participants take on the 6 mile route along the waterfront the Chung Ku and back again. There’s also a charity village with bands, tasty food and drink and face-painters too. Register here.

Africa Oye, Sefton Park

Back for its 27th year, Africa Oye celebrates all the very best African and carribbean music, culture and food with one epic, two day, FREE festival at Sefton Park. There’s a huge line up of amazing international acts, family friendly workshops and performances and basically good times for all.

Laces Out, Invisible Wind Factory

Space Jamz; Africa Oye Official After Party

Anton Powers Presents: The Rave Cave

Boundless Balearic Brunch, The Alcemist

Keith Haring, Tate Liverpool

The UK’s first major Keith Haring exhibition at Tate Liverpool has proven to be hugely popular in its first week since opening. Showcasing the 80’s NYC street scene, political influences and more, this is a brilliant opportunity to see Haring’s incredibly influential work up close in Liverpool. More into here. 

Last Chance to See: The Earth Liverpool Cathedral

This Sunday is your last chance to see artist Luke Jerram’s Gaia at Liverpool Cathedral. This 23ft wide replica of the earth, which is suspended and rotating for all to see, really is a spectacle. If you’ve not yet seen it for yourself, don’t miss out. It’s free. Opening times for this week here.

LIMF 2019 is less than 6 weeks away and tickets are flying out.
