This week in Liverpool we’ve got a whole bumper load of theatre, dogs and beer. What a combo! Blackfest brings an exciting, week-long programme of events to city venues, while St George’s Hall hosts its annual beer festival with more than 200 real ales on offer.
There’s footy action on the big screen, brand new drama on the stage at the Playhouse and impressionist and comedian Luke Kempner brings the voices of all your fave celebs to the Epstein. Classic films, old school tunes and we say goodbye to Botanical Garden for another summer.

Monday 23rd September
Blackfest
BlackFest is a grassroots Liverpool Black arts festival which brings a different event to a liverpool venue every day this week. It all starts with a scratch night at unity theatre from 7pm on Monday. Check out the full list of events here.Â
Lunch at Muster Custom Coffee
The weather is set to be unpredictable at best this week so why not take refuge with a big old slice of cake and a silky rich coffee? We love Muster Custom Coffee, Argyle Street just across from John Lewis for its comfy seats and chilled vibes. More here.
Motown the Musical
The story of Motown comes to life on stage at the Liverpool Empire this week as Motown The Musical continues its run. The music, the icons and the costumes make this incredible story brand new. Tickets here.Â
Tuesday 24th September
Lunch at Mowgli Bold Street
Never had chaat bombs at Mowgli, Bold Street? Even if you have, get some down you on Tuesday and give prayers to the god of all things Indian Street Food because your life will never be the same again. Mowgli menus here.Â
Sheffield Wednesday V Everton
Everton are away to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup clash. Get down to Mason’s on Seel Street to watch all the action on the big screen with a bevvie or two. Kick off is 7:45pm. Info here.Â
Little Miss Sunshine, Liverpool Playhouse
It’s not all doom and gloom this week! Based on the Oscar award-winning film, Little Miss Sunshine is a musical comedy featuring local actor Mark Moraghan – performing for the first time at the Playhouse as the Grandpa of Olive, in the dysfunctional Hoover family. MK Dons V Liverpool
The reds travel to Milton Keynes to take on MK Dons in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. Kick off is at 7:45pm and you can catch all the action on the big screen and booth screens at Punch Tarmey’s. More info here.Â
Thursday 26th September
Luke Kempner, House of Faces, Epstein Theatre
Comedy comes in the form of impressionist Luke Kempner at the Epstein this week. Prepare to see and hear all your fave celebs, less fave politicians and royalty as Luke performs live on Thursday night. Tickets here.Â
Baltic 10 Year Manifesto, Content
There’s a huge launch party at Content, the home of Bongo’s Bingo on Thursday night. The Baltic 10 Year Manifesto is being revealed and if that’s not enough of an excuse for a party we dont know what is. More info here.
St George’s Hall Beer Festival

British Musical Fireworks Championships, Southport
The phenomenal British Musical Fireworks Championships returns to Southport this weekend with three nights of thrilling, family-friendly entertainment. Back to the Era’s at Smokie Mo’s
Greatest Hits Breakfast presenter Rossie takes you Back to the Eras at Smokie Mo’s on Friday. You can expect all the best 70’s-80’s and 90’s tunes at this Grand Central party night. Doors open from 6pm. More info here.Â
Baltic Weekender, September Edition
