Where to get your real Christmas tree from in and around Liverpool

There’s nothing like the look and smell of a real Christmas Tree to make you feel the festive season’s finally arrived and Santa’s started loading up his sleigh en route to Liverpool.
So if you’ve hauled out the tinsel and broken out the baubles, the only thing left to do is get is a fab fir tree to hang them on.
And here’s where you can get a real Christmas Tree in and around Liverpool…
Aigburth Hall Nurseries Garden Centre, Aigburth Hall Avenue
The family run centre is tops for trees at this time of year, and it’s got fresh, quality trees ready to order over the phone or view in the shop, so you can choose the one that’s perfect for you.
It’s got Nordmann Fir trees from 5ft to 16ft, and Fraser Fir trees from 6ft to 8ft, and prices ranging from £40 to £200 (but that’s for your real biggie!).

This Aigburth company offers real Christmas trees for sale with free delivery in Liverpool City Region.
There are trees from £50 and you can pay online or use the card reader on delivery, and choose your Christmas tree from their truck. And, for £10, they will collect and recycle your tree in January.

Christmas Trees Liverpool, Jamaica Street
Offering Nordmann Fir, a lush and glossy green tree that has a beautiful shape and strong branches – and a reputation for retaining its needles – from 5ft to 8ft, and £45 to £70.
There’s also free delivery to Liverpool, Warrington, St Helens, Birkenhead and Chester from December 1. They also promise that they only cut down the exact number of trees for which orders have been placed online.

They deliver real Nordmann and Fraser Fir trees grown in Norway and the UK, and you can also collect in store.
They say all trees are from managed forests and are pruned regularly throughout the year to ensure good, shape and quality. Ranging from 5ft to 10ft, trees start from £35.
Dobbies Garden Centre Liverpool, Speke Hall Avenue
Dobbies will have a selection of cut and pot-grown Nordmann Fir trees supplied by Needlefresh from December.
They’ll range in size from 3ft to 8ft and, in price, from £44.99 to £74.99.
Rainford’s Christmas Tree Land, Catchdale Moss Lane, St Helens
The Rainford family have been at Catchdale Moss Farm since 1858 and, while they still farm the land, they also grow Christmas trees!
They’ve got Nordmann Fir, Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce and Fraser Fir, all as fresh as possible, and from 3ft in height and £15 to buy.
You can even buy a not-so-perfect tree for a tenner!
Bridge Farm, News Lane, Rainford
The farm’s got a great selection of cut and potted trees including Nordmann Fir, Norway Spruce, Lodgepole Pine and Fraser Fir.
Prices start around £20 and go up to £80, depending on the type and size of tree. All the family farm’s trees have been supplied by the same wholesaler for over 20 years and are grown in the Scottish Highlands.
Giltrees Christmas Trees, Liverpool Road, Bickerstaffe, near Ormskirk
Giltrees was founded in 1965 by Mr O. C. Giller, and is still run today by the same family, employing mainly family members and people within the local area.
Members of the British Christmas Tree Growers’ Association, they grow the trees in Lancashire and on the family’s own 300-acre forest in the Scottish Highlands, where all trees are re-planted two-fold. They specialise in Nordmann fir, Lodgepole Pine, Fraser Fir and the beautiful Noble Fir, planting only the very best quality seedlings to ensure a premium quality tree.
They have hundreds planted to resemble a mini forest so you can wander round and pick your own – although it might be muddy so wellies are a good idea. They deliver locally for a small fee.

Church farm, Church Lane, Thurstaston, Wirral
There are five varieties of tree grown on the Church Lane Farm, ready for you to choose and chop down to take home with you.
They recommend a 7-footer is ideal for most rooms, with a Nordmann Fir, Norway Spruce, Fraser Fir, Noble Fir and Scots Pine to select from.
The prices range from around £45 to £60 for that height of tree, and they also have a selection of small, potted trees for sale, which are ideal for planting in your garden.

Gordale Garden and Home Centre, Chester High Road, Burton, Wirral
Gordale has a selection of real trees, with sizes right for all rooms, it says.
All its real trees are unwrapped and checked for quality in store, and are only re-bagged once they’re bought – so you can see exactly what your tree will look like.
Martins Garden Centre, Tarbock Green
You’ll be able to choose your Christmas tree from the farm from November 27, and take it home with you or have it delivered. (Trees are delivered free locally and between £5-£7 outside the local area.
There are four types of tree to choose from, Nordmann Premium, Norway Spruce, Scottish Pine Premium or Fraser Fir.
Trees start at £20, depending on the type and size of tree, and there is a pointing and log base service for £3.50.
Top Christmas tree tips:
* Keep the tree outside for as long as possible and only take it inside the house when you’re ready to put it up and decorate it.
* Keep it away from radiators and direct heat sources, and from cold draughts.
* Choose a base with a good water reservoir and keep it topped up. Trees can easily dry out over the festive season.
* Unless it’s been done for you, cut off half an inch or so from the base when you get your tree, to open up the pores and allow the tree to suck up the water.
