Regal Entertainments is bringing the classic story of The Wizard of Oz to life from Saturday 25 to Friday 31 October, promising a half term packed with magic, music and plenty of panto fun.

Audiences will follow Dorothy and her trusty dog Toto as they set off down the yellow brick road to the Emerald City, meeting Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion along the way.

The show brings all the familiar favourites – Glinda, the Wicked Witch and of course the Wizard himself – plus a soundtrack guaranteed to have families singing on the way home, standout costumes and big production numbers.

Chantelle Morgan takes on the iconic role of Dorothy. She returns to St Helens after appearing as Snow White in 2024 and Fairy Rose in Beauty and the Beast earlier this year. She’s previously played lead roles in Jack and the Beanstalk, Robin Hood, Cinderella and Bring It On: The Musical, and trained at The Urdang and Emil Dale Academy.

David Heath plays Scarecrow. Known from X Factor and Eton Road, he’s no stranger to local stages and has appeared in Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin and Snow White, as well as twice reaching the Got to Dance finals with Dance Dynamix.

Shea Ferron appears as Tin Man. A performer with the Johns’ Boys Male Chorus, he helped take the group to the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals and has sung at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. Last Christmas, he played Buttons in Cinderella for P&O Cruises.

Conor Barrie returns as Lion. A Liverpool Theatre School graduate, he was recently seen as Gaston in Beauty and the Beast at St Helens and has appeared in Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Salon – The Sequel!, along with pantos at the Gladstone Theatre.

Hayley Russell is back as Glinda after performing the role in previous Regal Entertainments productions in Liverpool and St Helens. She’s spent two decades working as a vocalist and dancer, supporting artists like Billy Ocean and Gareth Gates, and appearing in shows including Vampires Rock and The Meat Loaf Story.

Katy McKenna takes on the Wicked Witch. A familiar face for St Helens audiences, her theatre credits include The Greatest Show, The Snow Queen, The Salon – The Sequel! and The Scouse Cinderella. She’s also played leading panto roles including Goldilocks, Princess Jasmine, Alice and Dorothy.

Warren Donnelly appears as the Wizard. Known for his roles in Shameless, Tin Star, Cold Feet and Coronation Street, he’s also worked extensively on stage including Slappers and Slapheads and Rita, Sue and Bob Too, and has appeared in multiple Regal Entertainments pantos.

The show is directed by Chantelle Joseph with choreography by Nazene Langfield and music supervision from Callum Clarke.

St Helens theatre manager and panto director Chantelle Joseph says: “There’s just a month to go until we transform the Theatre Royal into the merry old land of Oz for this much-loved family favourite. The Wizard of Oz is a classic for good reason – it’s got everything, and I know it will bewitch young theatregoers and their families when the curtain goes up next month.”

The Wizard of Oz runs at St Helens Theatre Royal from 25 to 31 October.
