Cilla The Musical will be on stage at 1.50pm, followed by The Band who will appear at 5.25pm.

Both acts will be performing on the afternoon of Sunday 30 July on the We Are Family Plateau Stage at St Georges Quarter, prior to both shows performing at the Liverpool Empire Theatre later in the year.

Cilla – The Musical will have its world premiere at the Liverpool Empire from 7 to 16 September, and is the new spectacular and heart-warming musical adaptation of the critically acclaimed hit ITV television series by Bafta Award winner, Jeff Pope.

It tells the extraordinary story of the teenage girl from Liverpool whose teenage dreams of stardom lead to her becoming one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers of all time. It’s an introduction by a young John Lennon to music mogul Brian Epstein that changes Pricilla White’s life forever. By the age of just 25 she would be known as singer and TV star Cilla Black, Number One selling artist and at the forefront of the Brit-Pop music scene. The musical score is the ultimate soundtrack to the Sixties including Cilla’s greatest hits Anyone Who Had a Heart, Alfie and Something Tells Me, Twist and Shout by The Beatles, California Dreaminby The Mamas and The Papas’ and many more. The appearance at Liverpool Pride will mark almost two years to the day that Cilla passed away on 1 August 2015.

The Band will have its world premiere at Manchester Opera House from 8 to 30 September and visits Liverpool Empire in January 2018. Written by award winning writer Tim Firth, The Band is a beautiful story for anyone who grew up with a boy band and how those songs became the soundtrack to their lives. For five 16-year-old girls in 1992, the band is everything. Twenty five years on, we are reunited with this group of friends as they try once more to fulfil their dream of meeting their heroes.

Featuring the music of Take That, Britain’s most successful boyband of all time, whose songs include Never Forget, Back For Good, A Million Love Songs, Greatest Day, The Flood, Relight My Fire, Shine, and Rule the World, and starring the winners from the BBC’s Let it Shine, Five to Five. The Band is now the fastest selling musical theatre tour of all time.  Don’t miss your chance to see this breathtaking brand new production first before it hits London’s West End.

Also joining the line-up on the We Are Family Plateau Stage are the rising stars of the Liverpool Empire Youth Theatre with a performance from their forthcoming show, Fame The Musical. They will appear at 12.10pm.

Fame The Musical will be presented by Liverpool Empire Youth Theatre at the Liverpool Empire on Friday 18 August and Saturday 19 August at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.

Get ready for an exhilarating stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning movie and popular TV series, Fame! The pop culture phenomenon follows the lives of a group of students attending New York’s High School for the Performing Arts. Follow them on their journey as they reach for the stars and the bright lights of the entertainment industry.
