10 things you need to know about Comic Con Liverpool

It’s one of the biggest and most fun events in the city’s calendar and this year around 40,000 people are set to descend on Liverpool again for Comic Con.

It’s become the flagship Comic Con convention, overtaking the capital as the go-to dream destination for sci-fi fans, comic book lovers and Cosplay enthusiasts.

The line-up is already looking amazing, with stars from the Vampire Diaries and Stranger Things, along with guests from Police Academy and Walking Dead – and Wednesday Addams herself, Christina Ricci! 

Looking at that little lot, you know you want to be there, so here’s 10 things you need to know…

1. When is Comic Con Liverpool being held?

It’s being held on the first weekend in April, Saturday and Sunday, April 1-2.

2. Where is it being held?

It will take over the Exhibition Centre on Liverpool’s Waterfront, with Early Bird entry from 9am on both Saturday and Sunday, and standard entry at 11am.

3. What can I expect?

Comic Con Liverpool offers the chance for fans of pop culture, films, TV, comic books, and more, to meet and greet their favourite actors and actresses, have photographs with them, and get autographs. The special guests always attend Q&A panels too so you can get to ask your own questions and interact in a more intimate setting.

You can also dress up and join the huge Cosplay community, and shop at trade stalls which sell everything from replica props, clothing and toys, to original artwork and more.

4. Who’s going to be there?

The guest list is growing all the time but already there’s a long list of names waiting to say hello including:

Star guest – Wednesday Addams, aka Christina Ricci! 

From the Vampire Diaries: Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley (returning for their second year)

Stranger Things’ Jamie Campbell Bower (Vecna) and his first victim, Grace Van Dien

Twilight star Christopher Heyerdahl

The Lost Boys’ Frog brothers Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander, and

Police Academy legends GW Bailey and Lance Kinsey

5. What about Harry Potter, anyone from that this year?

It wouldn’t be Comic Con without someone from the wizarding world of Hogwarts and Harry Potter and this year it’s none other than Mr Arthur Weasley, actor Mark Williams.

6. Will any Disney heroes be there?

But of course, the Disney legends Scott Weigner, Linda Larkin and Jonathan Freeman – otherwise known as Aladdin, Jasmine and the villainous Jafar – will be there.

7. How will I find out what’s on when, and where, so I don’t miss my favourite artist?

There’ll be official programmes available at the door and at information points throughout the venue which will show where everything is and what time photo shoots and Q&A sessions etc., are happening. A full schedule will also be emailed to ticket holders around two weeks before the event and on the website nearer to April.

8. Can I still get tickets?

Yes there are still some tickets available – and you can book yours here – but you’ll need to get in there fast to be certain of getting in.

9. Is there an After Party this year?

There certainly is – it’s at Camp and Furnace in the Baltic Triangle and starts at 8pm. You can look forward to DJs, live entertainment, Cosplay competitions and more and, as Comic Con guests are invited, you may get to see a few of your Comic Con favourites winding down after the event. 

It’s a great night on Saturday and Sunday, but 90% of tickets have sold out so if you want to go, get your ticket now.
