Soulside Festival – BOXPARK

After the success of last winter’s festival, Soulside is back at BOXPARK with more legends for its Summer Soiree this Saturday, 4pm to midnight. US soul and disco star George McCrae is performing live, along with adopted Scouser Angie Brown and headliners Heatwave, plus Gary Barker, tribute acts and DJs.

Night at the Movies, Mersey Ferries

These evening cruises are brilliant, and if you’re a big film fan as well as a music lover this is the one that you want (see what we did there?). Get onboard (and maybe get your fancy dress on) this Saturday for a singalong tribute show with songs from big screen classics like Grease, Dirty Dancing and Mamma Mia!

Kinky Boots at Liverpool Empire

This is one of the most feelgood musicals you’ll see on a Liverpool stage all year – the multi-award winning Kinky Boots returns to the Empire from Tuesday to Saturday, with Dan Partridge as Charlie who’s struggling to run the family shoe factory and Johannes Radebe as fabulous drag queen Lola.

Meet the meerkats (and the other 750 animals) at Knowsley Safari

Who doesn’t love a meerkat, and not just the cuddly insurance ones? In real life, they’re even cuter and quirkier. Knowsley Safari has a mob of meerkats – that’s what it’s actually called – on its Foot Safari so you can get up close and spot them keeping lookout, then head to see everything from tigers to bears, giraffes and hundreds of other amazing animals.

Hot Water Comedy Club at Blackstock Market is one of the best in the UK and this week is chocker with laughs, with Paul Smith on Wednesday on his Pablo 24/25 tour, a fundraiser on Wednesday, multi-headline shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and Andy Roach: Laughing at Conspiracy Theories on Saturday.

Chows Chippy on Princes Dock every Tuesday lunchtime

If you’ve never tried Chows award-winning fish and chips, you really don’t know what you’re missing. It’s usually pulling in crowds at Parkgate, but if you’re in town on Tuesdays between 12 and 2pm, you’re in luck because Chows food truck is at Liverpool Waters with the classic plus its salt & chilli street range.

See the Pete Burns Total Stranger exhibition at Cafe Tabac

Dead or Alive frontman Pete Burns was a true music icon in Liverpool and this photographic exhibition captures him in his outrageous stage persona and behind the scenes. On display at another city legend, Café Tabac, it features black and white images taken by renowned photographer Francesco Mellina.

Yungblud Album Launch Show at The Dome on Friday

Over the next few months, The Dome at Grand Central on Renshaw Street has got a brilliant line-up of live shows including The Coral and Olivia Dean. This Friday it’s Yungblud who’ll be doing two live performances at 6pm and 8.30pm, supporting his new album ‘Idols’. Over 14s only.

Doggy Brunch at Nova Scotia on Saturday

If we could think of one thing better than a brunch, it would have to be brunch with your dog surely? Nova Scotia at Mann Island does a Doggy Brunch on the second Saturday of every month which means it’s coming up this weekend, 8.30am-11am, so treat yourself and your furry mate to a gorgeous brekkie.

Celebrating its 23rd year, the Liverpool Arab Arts Festival is back with a packed line-up of performances, screenings, workshops and exhibitions, giving a showcase to Arab creativity and bringing people together. It runs from Friday until July 20 across venues including Bluecoat, Unity and World Museum.

Take a guided walking tour of Liverpool Biennial on Saturday

Biennial artworks across the city are great just to look at, but even better if you can find out more about them while you do. The best way is to take one of the weekly guided tours, taking place between now and September 6. This Saturday, at 2pm, explore works at 20 Jordan Street, Pine Court and The Black-E.

New Brighton Arts Festival

Here’s a chance to see some fantastic Wirral music talent performing live as part of New Brighton Arts Festival. Friday Night Live, this Friday at the Floral Pavilion, will showcase young up-and-coming local bands playing energetic sets packed with original music. From 7.30pm in the Blue Lounge.
