11 Liverpool hotels that are perfect for a staycation this summer

For most of us the fortnight in the Spanish sun or trip to see Mickey and the magic of Disneyland have been put on hold this year after lockdown left us ‘holidaying’ at home and these Liverpool hotels offer just that.

While some of us are beginning to buckle in and venture further afield as flights get put back on the schedule, many of us are sticking to more familiar territory – for now at least.

But you don’t have to wander too far away to still enjoy a relaxing break, indulge in a spot of sight-seeing or insist on a little pampering with these fab staycation hotels…

Hilton Hotel Liverpool

It’s easy to see why this would be the perfect place for a break for you and yours, the hotel is blessed with breath-taking panoramic views of Liverpool’s historic waterfront, proximity to city sights and it’s right next to the shopping heaven which is Liverpool One.

The Hilton has implemented a whole range of new safety measures along with some innovative additions to ensure guests can return safely and enjoy the Hilton experience.

A ‘CleanStay’ policy from check in to check out has been instigated and, with Alfresco socialising set to be popular for the foreseeable future, Hilton has joined forces with local distillers Love Lane Brewery and doubled its outside terracing capacity which can now accommodate over 100 guests with an outside bar, and two giant screens have also been installed for guests to enjoy major sporting events.

All of course, while enjoying a luxury room, cocktails in the Pima Bar or delicious dining in The Exchange Restaurant.

Hope Street Hotel

Sitting in the heart of Liverpool’s Georgian neighbourhood, this hotel has got some artistic neighbours – Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Everyman Theatre – as well as some of the city’s favourite independent restaurants and infamous public houses. That’s as well as being close to two magnificent cathedrals which bookend Hope Street and are within a short stroll of the hotel’s front door.

The independent four-star hotel’s look is city chic with original features of pink Cheshire brick, iron pillars and pitch pine beams… “and we pride ourselves on excellent service, turning on sixpences and smiling a lot – all super professionally” so if you want a change of scenery this is looking good.

All staff are trained in its new company COVID policy to ensure guests’ safety, and dining at its award-winning sister restaurant The London Carriage Works is still assured for that spectacular and special dinner. There are dinner, bed and breakfast deals for summer – and you can look forward to spa facilities soon.

Hard Days Night Hotel

Beatles fans – and non-Beatles fans – will love this ‘Fab Four’ star Liverpool hotel.

It’s the world’s only Beatles-inspired hotel, combining quality facilities in a unique environment. Located in the centre of the ‘Beatles Quarter’, it’s housed in the magnificent Grade II listed Central Buildings, dating back to 1884, so the beautifully restored hotel is steeped in history.

Moreover, all 110 rooms are individually designed around the contours of the original building and furnished with specially commissioned Beatles-inspired artwork on the walls.

It’s slap-bang alongside Mathew Street and the Cavern Club making it ideal for lovers of the lads who  shook the world and a great base for exploring all the other Beatles landmarks like Penny Lane, Forthlin Road, etc., and others who just want a break away with a bit of a Twist (and Shout?). For them – and everyone – you’ve got shops, galleries, museums, restaurants and more.

There are places to remember, and this could be one for you.

Aloft Hotel

If lockdown life has been a little lacking in luxury and you fancy spoiling yourself just for the hell of it, what about this glorious city centre hotel for your staycation?

Aloft Liverpool has got to be one of the most hip hotels, and it’s situated in the iconic Grade II-listed Royal Insurance Building where you’ll be surrounded by history, but with a modern feel too.

It’s easy to get to The Pier Head and other attractions like The Royal Albert Dock, The Beatles Story, Liverpool Museum, and more from here, as well as The Metquarter and Liverpool ONE.

And if you’re seeking something a bit special in Liverpool City Centre, you can dine-in in its NYL Restaurant and Bar, as recommended in the Michelin Guide; or grab a cool cocktail from the bar and just chill with friends or your other half – and if you feel the need, make amends in the hotel’s gym!

There’s also a Sundays in the City deal at the moment offering accommodation, breakfast and a two-course dinner at a great rate too.
