It’s definitely big coat temperatures out there, but on the upside it makes everything feel a lot more Christmassy so it’s a good excuse to get all wrapped up and load up on festive carbs!

See what’s new at Liverpool Christmas Market
There’s so much to do at Liverpool Christmas Market that even if you’ve already been it’s worth going again to soak up the atmosphere, have a browse of craft and gift stalls and get sampling some of the tasty traditional food like crepes and whopping bratwurst or just a nice warming Glühwein or hot choc.
It’s on until Christmas Eve, around St George’s Hall, and looks especially magical at night all lit up.

Get a selfie with the new festive Liverpool sign
This is already one of the busiest selfie spots in the city centre, so make sure you grab one if you’re in town – while you’re out shopping in Liverpool ONE, head to Chavasse Park because the Liverpool sign has been given a festive makeover so now it’s brightly decorated with seasonal designs, perfect for a pic.

Southport Festive Fun Day on Saturday with Gemma Collins and more
Christmas fun isn’t all about the big guy in red, because Southport’s Festive Fun Day has got a celeb line-up to make it even more special. A fabulous festive show kicks off the celebrations on Saturday with Gemma Collins, Lemar and Toploader all on stage in Lord Street alongside lots of local young talent.

The Georgian Quarter is one of Liverpool’s most stunning places, and food at the award-winning London Carriage Works never disappoints, so before you spoil everyone else at Christmas, give yourself an early treat with dinner there. Get Lost In Music at M&S Bank Arena
You’d have to be a proper Grinch not to be in the Christmas spirit after this full-on dance all night disco nostalgia fest at the Arena on Saturday. With a live band and superb vocalists, you can relive all the biggest hits of the disco era from artists like Donna Summer, Earth Wind & Fire, Sister Sledge and Chic.

For a festive day out kids are bound to love, head to King’s Dock and take them on a trip to the land of Christmas-shire. This isn’t a show, it’s an experience for the whole family to get involved in, performing songs and spreading kindness as they help Nutmeg the Elf to restock the lost magic of Christmas.

Book your table at The Ivy Liverpool
The Ivy finally arrived in the city last week, with one of the most spectacular launch events Liverpool’s had in years, and now it’s everyone’s turn to see what a wow this place is. The old Bank of England on Castle Street looks incredible, and the food – with all the famous Ivy specials – is just as gorgeous.

The Mersey Beatles play the Floral Pavilion on Saturday
Fab Four fans need to get to the Floral Pavilion this Saturday because they’ve got a gift of a show for the season.
Brilliant tribute band The Mersey Beatles will be celebrating the 60th anniversary of A Hard Day’s Night by performing the entire album, followed by a hit-packed compilation of greats in a live concert.

You definitely need a hearty breakfast to set you up when it’s wintry, especially if you’re going on a bit of a Christmas shopping marathon, and Lovelocks has it.

Is Christmas even Christmas if you’ve not cried at It’s a Wonderful Life? If you love the film then check out this stage adaptation inspired by it. At the Royal Court from Tuesday until November 30, stories don’t come more heartwarming than the one of banker George Bailey and his guardian angel Clarence.

Soul Side Festival at BOXPARK on Saturday
Saturday is a big pre-Christmas date for soul and Motown fans because BoxPark is hosting the Soul Side Festival. It’s an all-dayer, kicking off at 12noon until midnight, with a top class line-up featuring Craig Charles DJing, The Real Thing, Ray Lewis and Odyssey plus lots of great tribute artists, games and prizes.

You can’t beat a Sunday roast with the family or maybe just as a nice daytime date, and Emily’s in Formby has one of the most delicious you’ll find anywhere in the region. The venue’s looking amazing too, so it’s the perfect time to book, and the roast chicken with black truffle is a real stand-out.

We’re loving all the winter markets around Liverpool at the moment, and this has one of the most beautiful heritage settings. A festive edition of the Makers Market is at Croxteth Hall this Sunday from 11am to 4pm with gift and food stalls featuring over 50 indie makers and creators. It’s dog friendly too.

Winter Walks on the Wirral Way
You know we mentioned big coats? Well get them on, and everything else cosy, and head out for a lovely walk – or a bike ride – along the Wirral Way. It stretches from West Kirby to Hooton but you can just do short stretches if you prefer and there are plenty of pubs near the route to stop off at.
